Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ Sep 4-10
SATURDAY
Nightgown day.
SUNDAY
My birthday outfit. Back to stupid cell phone pictures cuz my %*$%#! camera was being uncooperative.
This is the sister to the green and white polka dot dress I got last year. That was a 3x and QUITE voluminous. This is a 2x and just a TINCH snug in the upper body. A 2.5x would have been perfection. But. It’s still a lovely lovely dress. The silky smooth rayon batiste fabric, the super fun color palette, POCKETS. It is just a nice nice dress.
Dress: Osei-Duro, 2x. 2021
Sneakers: Keds Champions. 2021
MONDAY
The teensiest nod to the American holiday with red, white, and blue.
Top: Torrid, 3x. 2021
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
Sandals: Birkenstock Arizona. 2020
TUESDAY
Hell Day. Aka Errand Day. Shivers.
I just wore the dress while running around out in the world, but in the afternoon it got a little cool in the apartment so I put on this cardigan from Old Navy with no real thought to “how does it look.”
So…how does it look?
Dress: Junarose, 3x. 2017
Cardigan: Old Navy, XXL. 2021
WEDNESDAY
A friend is taking me out to birthday lunch in town. Yay 🙂 That called for a slight dress-up situation (not that I consider this dress “dressing up,” but compared to what I’ve BEEN wearing all vacation…
Dress: Osei-Duro, 3x. 20210
Sandals: Birkenstock Arizona. 2020
THURSDAY
Back to work. Plus, raining. Both things affect my mood so I just wanted something easy and sort of invisible.
Here’s what I think now that I’m looking at the picture. It needs a third color. Yes, technically it’s already three colors (red, white, and blue) but the white isn’t doing anything for me. The blues of the jeans and shirt are SO similar, which isn’t helping. Thinking of my closet, I’m not exactly sure what would have been a good addition, but…I’ll think about it some more. I almost wore the (apricotty) yellow and white striped button-down instead of the chambray. Maybe it needed the navy sneakers.
Whatever, I certainly ended up with what I wanted…INVISIBLE.
Striped Tee: Old Navy, 3x. 2021
Chambray Button-down: Dia & Co, 3x. 2021
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons, 2021
FRIDAY
Cool. Well, relatively speaking. I’m not REALLY cool until it’s like 47 degrees. But cool enough for the light cardigan over the light dress.
Nothing too exciting. Blue and yellow scheme is pleasing to me. I like the casualness of the Converse sneakers with the dress. I even like the thin line of red around the shoe, which was a dealbreaker for me for a long time.
Dress: Junarose, 22. 2019
Cardigan: Old Navy, 2x. 2017
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons, 2021

I think all of the outfits look great this week! I also think you might have something with the 2.5 x sizing!

Wouldn’t it be nice if everything could be custom-tailored??
I’m noticing, more and more shoe brands are doing away with half-sizing! There’s such a big gap between one size and the next, ESPECIALLY in shoes. You can get away with it more easily in clothes, I think, but…
In the Converse I wear all the time, they’re mostly 9.5 and they’re PERFECT. Some colors only come in whole sizes and it’s like UGHHH, which way do I go? Tight Misery? Or Constantly Slipping Off My Feet??

I do like that cardigan over the dress!! Adds some color, and great length!!
The blue and yellow are always so classic. Do you add any inserts to your converse sneakers? I always think they are SO flat yet I love the look!

I don’t add inserts to the Converse. These are not the regular super-flat Chucks. The Shorelines (what I wear) are softer, have more give to the soul, and a little bit of arch support. I DO add Vionic inserts to my Keds Champions, cuz they are pretty flat.

I love the Old Navy cardigan – exactly the style I’m hooked on right now. The dress in the first photo looks great and looks comfty – sometimes it’s difficult to combine those two things. All in all, looks like an attractive week in your wardrobe.

Yeah, I love that dress. It’s so fun to wear.

You have outdone yourself this week. I love, love, love all the looks. And judging from your smile, I would say you liked them, too. Those dresses are perfect for the transition between summer and fall. I just ordered one through Amazon that is a solid – much prefer a print – but a pretty burgundy color with pockets and buttons. It is simple but cute. Hope to add some pizzazz with scarves or necklaces and a jacket or cardi. You really look happy and so super stylish. Great looks.

The transitional seasons are my favorite ones 🙂 Flannel shirts over summer dresses, pullover sweaters with jeans and sandals. You get the best of all worlds. I might even wear SOCKS with sandals this fall, ha ha! And I NEVER (ever) wear socks!
Hope you love your new dress!

I LOVE the purple sweater!

Thanks!

Fun round-up, Bettye! I loved the 2.5… We expect clothing to fit off the rack as though it were fitted to us. Thank goodness for alterations! I love the sneakers with the dress. (Unfortunately every time I try it, I feel the fool. It’s just not me.) I see what you mean about the jeans and striped tee outfit. It’s not really three colors, just one–Red, Denim and White count as neutrals since we visually erase them. There’s not enough red to feel the color you like in your outfits!

I used to have a friend who dated by profession (mechanic, painter, vet) as she needed those types of services, ha ha. Maybe I need to find myself a tailor boyfriend 🙂
