Do you KNOW how many times I changed this morning before I finally had no choice but to leave the house as-is?? This was the third outfit I put on, number 1 and 2 failing (even more) miserably (than this).

And the problem with all three outfits (well, tops really) was THE COLLAR.

Shocker.

I thought I’d wear my black plaid flannel with this cozy black cashmere crewneck. Nope. The collar on the button-down is too large, so it would have been a futz marathon trying to keep it neat. Plus the collar itself has very small “points” (I’m calling them that, in actual clothing terms, I don’t know what they’re called – but the part that folds over) so it kept slipping out of the sweater collar, and I prefer them in. So in trying to GO WITH THE FLOW I said alright, I’ll just endure the button-down collar being out over the crew-neck collar.

NOPE.

Could Not Do it.

Thought it might work better under a v-neck as the too-large-ness of the collar might work better in the more open v. Took off the black sweater, put on the chestnut v-neck and after much annoying futzing and adjusting and straightening (the chestnut sweater is a thinner, closer-fitting knit so everything has to be smooth underneath or it shows lumpies), I decided that…

NOPE.

It was also a fail.

So off came the black plaid button-down (which is better worn on its own or over something vs under). But I wanted SOME kind of collar under the black sweater (is she STILL talking about what she’s wearing??). The obvious choice was the blue chambray. but I already wore that this week under the black sweater’s sister, Grey Sweater. So.

I remembered this sweet (too sweet?) cream blouse I bought last summer and never wore. MEANT to return it but didn’t do it within refund timeframe so now it’s mine. I had thought the little ruffled collar would be cute under sweaters.

What do you think? Cute? CAN YOU EVEN SEE IT? Ha. The collar is TOO LARGE, so it droops down in front and is hidden from view. So I’ve spent the day FUTZING and trying to keep it pulled up above the sweater collar.

I hate clothes/outfits that are So Much Work.

Jeans. Sneakers. The best part of the outfit was when I had the coppery liner jacket on overtop…but it got too warm in the office to leave it on all day.

So many words. Apologies.

Other stuff happened – I was awake all night cuz I had a disturbing covid dream…and my office-mate gave her notice today so now I have the “OH JEEZ, NOW WHO AM I GONNA GET” anxiety. I spend more time with the person I share an office with than anyone else in my LIFE (how sad is that)…and how we get along plays a HUGE part in my…mental state. Huge. So. I’m happy for her…but anxious for me.

Happy Thursday.
