Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ April 11, 2022
It’s getting more challenging to pick something to wear. The weather is mild enough that chunky knits and multiple layers are out, but not mild enough for actual spring/summer clothes. It’s APRIL, so warm autumnal colors feel off, but…my springy colored things (do I HAVE springy colored things??) will leave me too un-cozily cool.
Brown plaid shirt with brown cardigan. Not groundbreaking but fine.
I just ate a crumbly fig newton and you can’t tell at all that I have crumbs on me – the sweater is already crumb-speckled.
Sigh.
My new accessory is the wrist brace thingie for the paw I hurt in California. That was like 5 weeks ago. I thought it would gradually get better…and instead it’s gotten gradually worse. It’s not BROKEN, I don’t even think it’s SPRAINED. I think it’s just…compromised. Anything twisty, lifty or grabby causes anything from distracting discomfort to sharp acute pain. So.
I feel like the doctor will just say “stay off it,” or MAYBE do an x-ray, in which case there will either be nothing there and he’ll say “stay off it,” or MAYBE there’s a hairline fracture (I kinda doubt that) and he’ll say “wear a brace.” Which I am. And what a RELIEF the brace is! I just got it Saturday and it’s been LOVELY. The second I put it on I was like AHHH Now That’s a Good Thing.
So I’ll sport this for a week and see if it actually improves anything. I do a lot of twisty, grabby, lifty things at work, so hopefully this will help.

Here in Alabama, we are in full spring wear this week – highs in the low 80’s. We had a cool snap last weekend and I did wear a denim jacket over a dress. On Sunday morning, it was 38 and on Sunday afternoon . . .it was 78! That is a 40 degree difference in one day but that is Alabama weather for you!

It’s so challenging when it’s like that!

I think that “spring-looking clothes for when it’s still chilly” is a hole in many closets. Everyone is excited for all the warm layers in fall, but with spring, it’s like, Take me directly to warm now please. Fortunately I have accepted that spring in MN is just straight up chilly for most of it, so I have a good wardrobe for it. But today I’m wearing olive/navy/denim and look like I just stepped out of October.

Yes. That hole leads me to “poorly planned purchasing” every year I think. That’s what brought me the lilac cashmere sweater and the green floral button-down…among other things. Spring is just So Short, it’s hard to spend money on dedicated short-period-that-is-warmer-than-summer-but-colder-than-summer time.
