Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ July 19, 2022
Dressing for A Scan Part 2. This was my optimistic attempt at NOT having to put on the (always too small) gown for the scan, which is always a miserable experience. But this time I got to scan dressed (just sans bra cuz of the metal hooks), so yay.
It all took a little longer than expected cuz they wanted to repeat last week’s blood work cuz my somethingsomething levels were…elevated? Low? Ha, I forget…but anyway, the tests indicated some loss of kidney function.
I drank the Berry Barium Vomit Smoothie. Which…why? It used to be a not-particularly-tasty-but-not-nauseating watery kool-aid kind of thing…and now it’s this extremely unpleasant vile viscous thing. Oofah.
Scanned, left…all in about two hours. And it was on the way home that I remembered that last year after all my kidney stones/lithotripsy/multiple scans near and far/peeing in the street in Queens (all these things are lumped together in my mind), it was determined that I only have 16% function in my left kidney…which the dr (last year) asked if I wanted to explore that, go in, poke around, maybe do something…OR…do nothing and just wait and see…and you KNOW which one I chose…but anyway, that explains the funky blood test results from last week.
PS – that was a year ago (in August) and I have not experienced any anything that would seem to be related to loss of kidney function. So.
It’s like when I was 18 and the (mean) dentist was insisting we remove all my wisdom teeth and I (in my wisdom) said NO NO they’re not bothering me, let’s not CREATE pain where there is none until we HAVE to. He was not happy but. And 43 years later, I have not had one issue with my wisdom teeth. So take THAT, Mean Dentist!
He did have a SUPER cute son that I went to school with and had a big crush on. The summer I had my first car (64½ Mustang) me and some friends would drive back and forth on the main strip (?) of our town, just LOOKING for cute boys to honk and wave at. Which, these days would probably get us shot (or worse), but…ANYWAY, once in a blue moon, the car of boys would whip around and start following US and a couple of times we thought it was worth the risk of stopping and talking to them. And ONE of those times, who do you think was in the car? Dentist’s Cute Son! Which initiated a short period of us all hanging out together.
Ahh, good times.

Where has that dress been hiding? I love the simple lines and flow of the dress. Looks so comfy, and still dressed for any occasion depending on accessories.
I remember how awful last year was, and am so glad you have felt better since then.
You brought back similar memories of those teen years driving around with the girls 🙂

Ah, cruising the strip. Fun times! Kidney nonsense: not as fun. I remember getting a kidney scan during my own kidney stone drama and being very happy that I chose to wear yoga pants so I didn’t have to do battle with the hospital gown (like a casino, the gown always wins).

Great looking outfit and I sure feel for you about the hospital drapes (or whatever they call them. Glad you got to wear your dress. Sorry about the yuky tastint stuff. Sure don’t blame you about waiting on the kidney. Maybe it’s doing better. I’ll add that to my prayer list.
