So, I’m wearing Summer Outfit #4 on Day 4. I have essentially 5 summer outfits that I am wearing on repeat, week after week.

It was A Day.

This morning, while waiting in our student-run coffee shop, I said hello to one of the students that doesn’t really know me because he’s in a different program…and he responded “hello, what’s your name?” and I said, “Bettye.” He goes, “you’re really fat.”

Ha. Out of the mouths of babes. His teacher was horrified and apologetic and I was like hey, he’s not wrong. And I don’t take offense to that descriptor. It’s just awkward because it makes everyone ELSE so uncomfortable.

Life.

And THEN…I had an altercation with a spicy chicken sandwich at lunch (evidenced by the orange splotch by my right boob), though I think I did a pretty good job sopping it up with a baby wipe and a Tide To Go pen.

And THEN…returning to work after lunch my car tried to kill me. All the dashboard lights came on and the power steering stopped being power. So turning was…A Challenge. Thankfully I was just next door sitting in the shade, but I called the mechanic up the street right away, he said bring it right in, which I did…followed by someone at work in case it died dead so I wouldn’t cause an accident (cuz they would know to be careful). I had to Uber home to the tune of $25 (and will repeat the process to get back to work in the morning). And the mechanic called around six to say alternator battery acid belts $1000+.

BUT…because I am now (when I can manage it) Go With the Flow Bettye…I am just grateful that this didn’t happen this weekend while in Pennsylvania…or worse, going to or fro. That would have been MUCH worse cuz a) broken down on side of road, b) could have caused accident if steering went out while doing 65, c) towing, d) unfamiliar mechanic, e) stuck in PA til it was fixed. $1000 sucks but it could have been much worse.

So. It was a day.

Oh. As I look at all the nice, clean, logical, updated apartments in Seoul for $600 a month, I never forget that THIS is what you get here for twice that amount.
