Where Bloggers Live: April Showers Bring May Flowers
![]()
Welcome! “Where Bloggers Live” started out kind of like HGTV’s “Celebrities at Home,” but…with bloggers! We all like to peek behind the scenes and see inside people’s homes, interests, and lives, so every month this wonderful family of amazing women shares their work-spaces, homes, towns, and thoughts, with posts based on specific prompts. It’s been so interesting over the years to see the different ways each of us interpret the topics.
April Showers Bring May Flowers: My Favorite Rainy Day Things
I love rainy days.

Being “stuck” at home. Cozy. Curled up on the sofa with soup (or ramen!). And movies.

The dark, gloomy sky.

The sound of rain on the roof or windows or in puddles.

The way rain on the car windshield turns all the lights outside into dreamy bokeh orbs.

The way it refreshes the plants and the earth.

Brightly colored umbrellas.

Of course I love the rain. It’s my birthright. Bettye Rainwater.

I hadn’t even made the connection to your name, Bettye! 😀 I love your photos, and that windshield shot with the lights turned to orbs is really cool.

My father’s name was Charles…but somewhere along the line people started calling him “Rain.” Even my mother. Wish I’d asked who started that. Anyway, yeah. I have a lot of connections to “rain.”

Of COURSE you love the rain! Miss you.

Miss you, too! Wish I was seeing you this year but I’m not going to be going that way. Maybe next time 🙂

I am quite nearly ashamed of myself for not at ALL connecting these dots…especially when I do see your name as so very unique. I honestly think I never consider the Rain portion. Just the water. That is so bizarre of me. And it is SUCH a lovely surname. A lot of people have noun or verb or adjective names, but few people have a LOVELY surname.
Once again, I was a victim of haste and although I started my post in advance (WHAT ia happening to me) I neglected to pay attention to the focus on the rain vs the “bring.” BUT…alll the things you love, I too, love. Dark clouds, hunker down, the way the drops create rings in puddles (or how they bubble sometimes), and the sound (probably my favorite of all the things). Beautiful photo essay!

I have always loved my last name. Not such a fan of my first name, but…
I should write a post someday about all the stories that have come about as a result of my name. THAT would be random!

Ahhhh, of course, it’s your name.
But then shouldn’t you be out there dancing in it?

Bettye, the piiiiiiictures! They’re so good. You made me a rain fan. I mean, I like it, but you made me wanna just sit in a little cafe and rain dream. *deep sigh* Like you, I love when I see people with brightly colored umbrellas on rainy days. In fact, I’ve been known to shop around for umbrellas so that I have one to coordinate with my outfits. It’s weird, but it brings me joy. I’m just waiting to get to the point where I’m “brave” {I hate that word} enough to wear rain boots as part of my outfit. You know like little kids do? LOL

My Korean room was the best for watching the colorful umbrellas floating by on rainy days. I miss that.
I can totally see you in some colorful rain boots!

What a great list of reasons to love a good rainy day. They are so rare here that I like that they are out of the norm, something different. And I love the moodiness of a rainy day, of a dark sky and heavy clouds. I always think of how happy the cactus/cacti and the wild animals must rejoice when we do get rain. This was a thoughtful prompt. Enjoyed your take on it.

I actually haven’t a good rainy day in awhile. Not since Korea! No rain in Thailand, CA, or Fl…just a day or so in Japan. I miss them.

I am not sure what is happening to my comments. Waaaa. I think it has something to do with WordPress continuing to haunt me even now after I have shut down my WordPress blog. Pretty sure you have seen your share of precipitation in your adventures overseas. Hope you have more sunshine than rain while you are ‘home’ in the States. Lovely photos, as always.

It’s not just you – many comments go straight to my trash bin. But now I check the trash bin whenever I check comments, so….
