New Beginnings
Well, this weekend I moved into the new place! That was H-A-R-D, between not feeling well while packing, having chemo two days before moving, etc. Fortunately I had a lot of support on moving day and we got’er done in record time. Unpacking is another story, but at least everything I own is in one place again. More or less 🙂
I’ve felt a little disoriented all weekend – sleeping in a new place, not knowing where my things are (I mean, they’re all in boxes, but WHICH boxes?!), feeling more tired than usual. It’s making everything feel a little surreal.
Everyone keeps asking “aren’t you excited for your new beginning?” And I AM, I just can’t really FEEL it yet, if that makes sense. I have to come out of this disorienting fog and exhaustion first – new beginnings are great, but they’re also hard. Big changes and all that. Change is exciting but exhausting.
My daughter is coming over shortly with some groceries (and a garbage can!) and to help me get a little unpacked, so I can locate things like underwear and a pot to make soup in. I’ll feel better once I REALLY know where things are, not just “here somewhere.”
This was the first time I wore this dress – and THAT was an easy “new beginning.” Another loose and easy-fitting dress, which was a blessing at this time. It’s a Style&Co dress via Gwynnie Bee, in a 3x. Lightweight blue Tencel, my favorite dress fabric, with a subtle white bandana print – you can see the print best in the last photo. On my head I’m wearing a vintage silk scarf that belonged to my mother. And my favorite Superga velcro sneakers.
AND we did this little photo shoot at the new apartment! There’s a little new apartment tour at the end of this blog post, which is WAY less embarrassing than the old apartment post from last week – be sure to watch and “like” on YouTube!
I *know* this is a good new beginning for me and as soon as I feel better I will jump up and down and shout HUZZAH! Well, maybe I’ll stand up and say Huzzah. But I will definitely FEEL like jumping up and down.
And let me know if you want to see further apartment adventures along with the outfit posts…I’m going to be videoing anyway so I can easily share if you’re interested.
Hope you’re all enjoying your week!
Bettye xoxo

I am so happy that you are finally moved in. The fun part is deciding how to decorate and where you are going to put everything. Feel better soon. Enjoy your new journey.

Thanks, I’m glad I’m in, too! The hard part behind me and the fun part ahead of me!

Love the video! Those wood floors are going to look so photogenic in your outfit posts! I can see that little garden being such an oasis, and even that little porch! Oh fun! Congratulations and good luck with all the boxes and sending strength your way! xx Julia

And now that the “pees inappropriately” cat is gone, I can finally have little area rugs! Very exciting! Will probably get a *little* fall planting done this year in the existing bed, and save the bigger project against the new fence for next spring. But will put a couple pots out there of autumn flowering things so I have a pretty view from the kitchen. So happy to have a little gardening space again!
Boxes will be around for awhile as I hunt down a couple additional furniture pieces at yard sales/CraigsList, etc…but we’ve gotten them down to a manageable amount in pretty good time, thanks to my energetic daughter!

Absolutely love the video – looking forward to more. I know you’re going to enjoy this place and I see you already have a new 4 legged friend. 🙂 Nice yard, I’m sure Caleb will be happy.
You’re my hero for moving while doing chemo. So glad you had good help. Do try and rest and not overdo!

Oh believe me, when I need rest there’s no one that can stop me! You’d have been proud of me last night, I wheeled the desk chair into the kitchen and just pointed at things in boxes to Katie and told her where to put them. I literally didn’t move a muscle 🙂
Caleb and I have TWO new puppy friends! Muggles the Puggle, and Gracie the lemon Bassett (aka Warrior Princess). And the three of all of them are all good friends. Janey is the wild card. She has not been introduced yet. I think eventually we’ll need to as I’d rather them run into one another while being chaperoned than while left to their own devices. The Warrior Princess has been known to kill small animals in the yard, like rabbits. And Janey can seem a little rabbity, perhaps. So we’ll use caution, but I think a meeting needs to happen.

Love the video ,can’t wait to see how it all looks as you get your stuff unpacked. Hope you will soon feel better, are you very far away from your previous home. Pauline.

Hi Pauline! I CANNOT WAIT to feel better! The last treatment is mid-September, I’m not sure how long til all side effects go away, but I look forward to that day!
I’m only about 20 minutes from where I lived before, but it’s like night and day in terms of…”cuteness,” for lack of a better term 🙂 I’m very happy to be here…the apartment feels really really good.
