Happy 1st Day of Summer
FINALLY. I feel like it was just snowing a few weeks ago…and now it’s officially SUMMER. Do you have your summer wardrobe all sorted out? I mostly do…I have my warm-weather wardrobe staples, so now it’s time for a wild card or two!
As much as we may plan to have a our closet filled with items that mix and match for optimal “outfitting,” it’s fun to have a couple items that are just fun, even if they’re just a one-hit-wonder.
This top is like that for me. It really doesn’t mix and match with anything in my closet – it goes over white jeans or blue jeans. Period. But I feel like I’m wearing an outfit-and-a-half when I wear it, it’s Just That Fun!
It’s swishy, swirly, lightweight and PINK. Not my usual M.O. But it’s good when you want to feel summery and festive.
This is a Gwynnie Bee rental item. GB is great for those outlier items that add a little dash to your usual wardrobe without having to add another item to your closet…or your credit card bill. This is not a sponsored post, I just have so much fun with my Gwynnie Bee subscription, I want to share it! If you use my link here, you can get a one-month free trial! AND Gwynnie Bee now carries straight sizes, too!
This top is Andree by Unit “Sharkbite Hem Embroidered Coral Top.” Such a fancy name!
If you’re not a GB-er, you can find similar items here and here in plus sizes…and here and here in straight sizes.
I’m also wearing my beloved skinny jeans from Charlotte Russe, chestnut tan slides by Steve Madden, and sunnies by A New Day at Target.
What’s your favorite fun fashion splurge for summer??
Thanks to my buddy Linda for the great pictures!

You look pretty in pink. 🌸🌸🌸 Back in the day, I sewed and embroidered a blouse I made in Home Economics class. It was really cute.

I used to LOVE wearing pink, guess that was my early-mid twenties. And then I sort of got away from it, felt sort of “sweet” to me, but I’m feeling drawn to certain tones of it again. Ha ha, home ec is the first class I ever failed – the project that semester was making a VERY simple jumper from a SUPER simple pattern. I never finished it cuz I kept messing it up, ripping out stitches, redoing, etc…and I finally just got frustrated and gave up altogether. That sewing ^*(%# has followed me thru the rest of my life 🙁

I don’t wear much pink, but I’m looking for a long sleeve crisp Oxford button down shirt. Im feeling a little preppy. Lol! I’m not an accomplished seamstress at all, but I do know how to make basic things. My mom sewed all the clothes for my dolls. She even made clothes for my Barbies with teeny tiny zippers and buttons. 😳😳😳

Ooh, you should check out Iris’ blog – she comments on here often and she has a new blog at http://irisoriginalsramblings.com/ and she also sews Barbie clothes!

Thanks Bettye, for the mention. I need to do a post about Barbie clothes. I haven’t made an outfit in way too long, but still love to make and dress Barbies. Latent child here I guess.

This top is fabulous Bettye!! Heck, it probably doesn’t even matter what pants you wear with it because it’ll always be the focal point. But you could certainly wear it with all color jeans, don’t you think? Grey, black, tan…..all the neutrals would work great!!

I love the top – looks great on you. And yes, I have WAY too many of those ‘one hit wonders’. I’m working on it and trying to copy my friend Bettye 🙂

Thanks, Lesley! And yes, yay for summer indeed!

I so agree. This pink embroidered number is definitely fun and super appealing. If it looks good with denim, and it does, then you are totally fine. Great choice. Happy summer!

I thought I commented here already but better to be late than never right? Yay for summer! Pretty sunsets and warm weather and you’re lookin’ good in the pink top! My splurge? Hmmmm, probably my new white purse. I rarely get anything white b/c we’re pretty hard on things here and white goes gray real quick. But, I’m proving to myself that I’m an adult and can actually be responsible for something white! Love seeing you back up and around!

Congratulations on your new-found white purse maturity 🙂

Right? Everything about it seemed free’n’ easy!

I somehow missed this post the first time. I love this shirt, with the jeans. You look fabulous!
You should always wear orange, red, or pink. Brighter colors make you pop, in the best possible way.

Thanks, Susan 🙂 I’ll definitely keep that in mind!
