What I Wore This Week
It was back to work this week so I actually wore clothes, not just nightgowns and bathing suits (lucky for you).
Day 1: On Sunday I went to a wake so was more “dressed” than I’d been all vacation.
Day 2: First day back to work outfit of the day. I went for easy dressing and fit to ease back into work. If I look a little mussed and creased it’s cuz I went to the beach after work and rolled the dress up into my bag while I was in my bathing suit.
Day 3: It was hotter again today, but it’s always cool in my office so my summer work outfits almost always include a cardigan.
Day 4: And then there was The Lazy Outfit of the Day. I got up early early to drive a friend to the airport before work and I just wanted easy peasy clothes. And sneakers Just in Case.
Day 5: I hadn’t intended to wear stripes two days in a row! I switched my Thursday and Friday outfits this morning when I realized how pleasant it was out – opting to wear the cardigan outfit today and the lighter outfit tomorrow. That’s why it’s nice to have the week’s outfits all planned out and hung up together – I can do last minute switches very easily, just grab another day’s hanger and I’m ready. I put all the items for each day on one hanger when I plan out the week – pants, dress, cardi, etc. Now if I could just stop accidentally hitting some key that deletes half my post, I’d be golden!
I put together a short video about the outfits where you can see them more “in action.” Pretty exciting stuff!
Hope y’all had a nice week and have a nice weekend ahead planned for yourself!

Ok, that video was so fun to watch. Answer that phone! And I must say your hair is coming in nicely with a bit of wave. The orange dress with the tan sweater is my favorite outfit. I do the same about hemming. I get a bit of a chip on my shoulder that I have to alter something I just bought and it adds a lot of cost. Oh, and sounds like you got a text!

So funny, I had no awareness of the phone ringing or texts pinging as I was videoing, and when I played all the clips back I was surprised to hear them! Not that I ever answer the phone anyway, it’s never anything good 🙂

Gosh, you look fabulous in red! I wish I could pull that off. I try not to put red too close to my face, since it highlights all the natural redness in my complexion. I adore the print on the Old Navy dress, I really must remember to hit that site more often. I totally adore the Eiffel tower print, you are standing next to. It’s just my style. I think I have a few square feet left of wall space, and it would look so nice next to my photo of Stonehenge!
BTW, are you sporting pearl earrings with the red dress?

The print (the blue paisley?) dress is from Loft Plus. But Old Navy does always have a lot of nice prints. I collect Eiffel Tower things: pictures, old postcards, figurines, etc. I don’t know where the rest of them are after 5 moves in 9 years – there are things I haven’t seen since selling my house in 2009 🙁 The earrings I’m wearing with the rust-colored (may be reading differently on your monitor) dress are darkened bronze metal drop earrings w a turquoise bead dangling at the bottom. I bought them at a hand-crafted fair when I first moved to Brooklyn 9 years ago and they’re still my favorites. I used to wear pearls All the Time, but that was a different style era for me 🙂 Did you take the photo of Stonehenge yourself?
Susan Marinelli
I did take the Stonehenge photo ,myself, in a driving rainstorm. Worth it! I love the Eiffel Tower, and all things Parisienne, in spite of the fact I haven’t been there…yet. Its only a matter of time. I love art, especially from the period of your Eiffel Tower. It looks to be from the 1930’s to the 1950’s, I might be wrong on that, but its beautiful. I have an old house with plaster walls, in spite of that, I’ve managed to hang art on all available surfaces. It makes me happy.
Your dress looks red on my old monitor, either way, you look great in bright colors. The turquoise earrings are so pretty, I noticed them, even though they are hard to see. I used to wear pearls all the time too, but I gave my mother’s pearls to my nieces recently. I just think pearls look better on younger women. I did keep my super long strand of pearls though (FAKE) because they look great when I layer necklaces. I moved here over 15 years ago, but I still have boxes in the cellar. Someday, I will clean them out!

Command hooks for plaster wall art hanging! Changed our lives in our old house.

That’s awesome that you got to take your own photo of Stonehenge and now have it hanging on your wall. I really need to start printing some of my work to have out where I can see it.
I think the only real pearl necklace I have left is a graduated strand my mother bought me when I was 11 and we were traveling to LA (from NY) by train as we did every summer (she never flew again after an experience she had while pregnant with me)…we always had a several hour layover in Chicago where we changed trains and it was on one of these Chicago days that she got it for me. At 11 it seemed much too formal and fancy…but I wore it a lot in my 20s and 30s…and now it feels too small (the pearls, not the length) to me as a large-bodied adult. My daughter is not “pearl-y” At All but maybe someday. Or maybe someday when I’m gone she might have the pearls made into something else she *would* wear, that would have come from her mother (me) and her grandmother who died just before she was born.

My favorite is the striped top and jeans! You look sporty and relaxed. But I love the dresses too. My daughter said you look super pretty in the wake outfit. 😊

Aww, thanks, daughter! I do love to be casual (re sporty striped top and jeans), even when I’m wearing a dress. I love things that aren’t too “precious.” Thanks for all your comments!
Susan Marinelli
Aren’t too precious, lol. GREAT turn of a phrase there, and evocative of blue haired ladies who dress in florals 24/7 and smell like Jean Nate! No judgements on florals here, but I too love (and need) to be casual. Precious is something I can never be. Thank goodness.

Well, my hair is *almost* blue!

Such pretty summer outfits. My favorite is the outfit that features the light blue dress. Isn’t it wonderful that a summer day is so long, that you can wear your work outfit to the beach later that day?
❤️❤️❤️

Yes! I’m already looking at what afternoons I get to the beach after work this week as tomorrow doesn’t look like a beach day.
