Here is a funny phenomenon. I write a blog post on a topic that just came to me, seemingly out of nowhere. And then within the next week or so I might see one, three, or more bloggers write on The Very Same Topic! I certainly don’t think that *I* am a thought leader and that bloggers with tens or hundreds of thousands readers are looking to ME for inspiration, so – how does that happen? I would imagine for all the blogs I see posted AFTER mine, on a similar topic, there are probably just as many posted BEFORE mine, that I never saw.

So how does that happen?? Did we ALL see one common idea SOMEWHERE, like on the news, a movie, billboard, website, book or magazine, and it inspired us all subconsciously? Or is it like when women who live in close proximity to one another get their periods at the same time?

They (#whoisTHEY) say that if you put a monkey in front of a typewriter, eventually she would write one of Shakespeare’s plays (yes, yes, this is just about probabilities, not actualities), but is it the same for bloggers? Eventually, will we all just write the same things about the same things? I might be worried about that, and the future of blogging, if it weren’t for the word “eventually.” Eventually is a LONG time. It’s an infinite period of time. As long as people keep writing original thought, I think we’re safe.

The same goes for style. In every medium – art, decor, fashion, etc. Yes, styles repeat, but hopefully with a new twist or color or fabric or SOMETHING. Designers and fashionistas are not necessarily COPYING the work and looks of others, but they can be INSPIRED by part or an overall look.

I think we’re inspired by everything. Fashion, art, nature, poetry, thoughts, colors, sound – everything. All the same inspiration is available to all of us. It’s just what we take from it and make of it.

What are you inspired by? Do you think there are new ideas, or just revisions of old ones? Discuss!

Totally random photos by me.
