Week in Review: Week 167
It’s Sunday…and I’ve passed on Sunday Funday with friends because I am just wiped out from this week. Too! Many! Things!
I am trying to spend more time reading. I need to add some “off-computer” relaxing time into my routine. Janey is very happy when I move to the sofa, though she likes tv watching best as then my hands are free for petting. Otherwise, she’s making me nuts. Anyone want a tiny cat?
I wasn’t exaggerating when I said it’s looking positively prehistoric down by where I park my car. Hmm. Is it just me that thinks ferns “prehistoric”?
A little more civilized up towards the house. I’m all the concrete-colored stucco part.
Headed out in the morning for work. There are so many trees on the north shore of long island that filter the light so beautifully.
It’s recommended to wash your hairbrushes about once a month. HA HA HA HA HA.
Had dinner with friends then did a photoshoot by the bay.
Calvin Klein dress from Gwynnie Bee I almost ended up wearing to the wedding cuz it was just so easy. You’ll see more of it in Tuesday’s blog post.
Went shopping for plants for the patio.
My love for nightgown dresses is undying.
The wedding was lovely. The reception was right on the beach and the weather was perfect for staying outside much of the evening.
In our hearts we were jumping really high. I don’t understand how our feet are still in the sand.
First dance. So happy for them. They’re currently on a cruise to Sweden and Iceland.
Oh, so, there was a guest there wearing The Outfit I Wish *I* Were Wearing! I tried to sneak a pic of her but it didn’t happen…and I wish I’d had the nerve to just go talk to her…but. It was very simple…off-white slightly-wide slightly-swishy slacks, a simple white top, and this beautiful but simple kimono in a super light/sheer india/boho print of just golden mustard and white…with simple fringe along the bottom. But like a proper kimono with slides and sleeves. It was just very simple but very boho chic. I’m still stalking perusing other wedding guests’ Facebook pictures trying to find a picture of it. I’ll share if I find it.
Saturday I was up bright and early to get to our annual 5K fundraiser. Afterwards, I came home and napped til 3pm, read a book in bed til 9pm, then went to sleep! I needed a rest like that.
I’ve been looking for two white shirts for summer 1) a long-sleeved white linen blouse to wear open, cardigan style or tied at the waist over dresses instead of cardigans, and 2) a short-sleeved white tee – linen or cotton as a nicer alternative to a tee shirt. I always used to have a white linen camp shirt (collared, short sleeve, button-down) every summer and wore them like crazy…but I’m having a tough time finding Just the Right One this year. I bought this one from Madewell but…it’s just not quite right on me. Too short for one thing, and not enough structure at the shoulders. I kind of look like a man in this picture in the boxy shirt with my shower-wet hair combed back. The low camera angle doesn’t help! Anyway, it’s going back. Ugh. Buy return buy return.
Today I’m walking that line between taking it easy…and getting stuff done. I washed some dishes and cut my toenails – that is no small feat! Ha. I went out this morning to water the plants and get a bagel and coffee. I’m boxing up some ebay items today and lugging some cardboard to the car. Is everyone’s life spent moving things back and forth between their car and home?
There are wonderful strong breezes blowing through the trees outside the apartment and I really enjoy listening to that now that I can open a window.
Anyway, I hope to wrap it up early enough that I can watch a movie and still get to bed around 9. Got another week of work ahead of me, though with no big events looming on the horizon…and looking forward to a 3-day weekend at the end of it!
What are you doing for Memorial Day weekend?
Nancy
That was a pretty relaxing weekend wasn’t it! We are going to the UK tomorrow so I need to pack today and clean and all that. ,,See,, you next week!

Yes, after the physically challenging work event Saturday morning, the rest of the weekend was quite peaceful and restful.
Have fun on your trip!

This is why I splurge on pedicures now…it’s not so easy to do them myself anymore…ha ha!!
If I were there at the wedding with you, we would have gone to talk to that lady with the white outfit. Life’s too short not to make new friends, especially when you’re going to give her a compliment!!
You’re supposed to wash your hair brushes??
Poor Janey. She’s obviously so neglected…ha ha!!
XOXO

Okay, good, so I’m not the only one…and I will admit to you, and ONLY you, that I’m lucky if I wash my brushes once a year! And by once a year I mean every other year 🙂
I should put that on a schedule like I do with some other things. Now that I move so frequently (sigh), there are a few things I let myself get “new” when I move into a new place – litter box, sheets, bath towels. I should add hairbrushes. Get new or wash the old.
Iris
I agree, Janey looks really neglected 🙂 Glad you got some reading time in. I’m slowly learning to take it easy sometimes.
Grace & Peace,Iris

Yeah, poor Janey. Ha.

I just buy new brushes because lazy and that is all.
I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going to wear to my cousin’s wedding. It’s in Chicago. I’ve never been to Chicago. Do they have summer in Chicago? I have so many questions. LOL
I can’t find a white shirt either. I don’t think a good one exists. I mean, I’m not looking for perfect. Just good.

I’ve had these two brushes For. Ever.
I think Chicago summers can be HOT.
Right? Why are “the basics” so hard to get right??
