Denim Dress + Leopard Cardigan
How’s that for an intriguing title?? Usually I sit down to write a blog post and blahblahblah just pours out of me. I photographed this outfit over a week ago and I have YET to think of any topic that goes with it, so. We all have our days.
If you follow me, this is the Tencel dress I ordered from H&M over a month ago, but it didn’t get shipped for some reason. It wasn’t out of stock, they just refunded my money and didn’t send it. We all have our days.
So, I tried ordering it again because it just seems SUCH a useful dress. Like jeans. Simple, easy to wear, goes with like every cardigan in my closet. I can wear it belted or not. I can wear it with boots or shoes, bare legs when it’s warm enough, tights when the temperatures drop. And it’s that lovely Tencel (Lyocell) fabric that is a) wonderfully drapey, b) easy to care for and c) one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics (it’s regenerated from wood cellulose).
It’s a classic shirtdress style that really never goes out of favor. I like to buy items that I can still be wearing in five years or more and they won’t look dated. I tend to stay away from trendy details or prints for this reason.
The leopard cardigan is a treasured purchase from last winter. You might have seen it here with a denim buttondown or here over a black and white striped tee. It has proven to be extremely versatile.
But I especially love this combo – with the “bright” faded denim look dress and dark leopard print.
Well, I guess even when I have nothing to say, I can blahblahblah!
Guess who took the pictures? ME! For a change! Ha. Sorry about the endless pictures on the patio. Maybe while Katie’s here this weekend I can bribe ask her to shoot some outfits for me somewhere else. ANYWHERE but on the patio!

- Sanctuary Leopard Cardigan in both straight and plus sizes. Shown here in size 2x.

That dress also works as a light coat/duster! I saw another blogger wear it several ways for a weekend trip. Gotta get me one if those!!!!
It’s a great outfit on you! And I personally will never tire of your patio. Enjoy the time with your lovely daughter.

Thanks, Marian. Katie will be back on the Island tomorrow – I’m hoping to see her over the weekend.

And these shirt dresses are totally versatile. Like Marian said as a duster too!!!

Thanks, Tina. When I first read “the leo cardigan,” I thought you were saying like “leo the LION,” and I thought, does she not know the difference between lion and leopard? Ha. Now I realize it was ME who didn’t get the shortened form of “leopard”!
Ashley
Oooh, I’m so glad you finally got this dress- such a classic piece you can remix over and over! And I love Tencel, too- it’s amazing how nice it lays. And the green factor is ace, too!

I want all the Tencel!

Pretty color combo plus very autumny. So, I’ve noticed something interesting in blogging…I think the outfits that get photographed in the same background get more “looks” because the background isn’t distracting and it’s expected. One blogger I know always has the same background and all you notice is her outfits, makeup and jewelry. I think there is something to the repetitiveness of backgrounds. I could be completely off my rocker there though too!
bettyewp
Yeah, I see some like that, too. I love seeing different places in the background…and I prefer shooting my own looks in different locations. Maybe if my outfits were better (ha) I’d be okay with repetitive backgrounds. Not that they’re not good, but some bloggers are all accessoried up – shoes, bags, jewelry, hair doodads, make-up, etc. The whole look is more interesting. I can never get all that together. I have the same one bag for years. Two pairs of shoes, etc. I feel like a varied background helps with the overall picture in my case. Plus it’s just more fun 🙂 I miss the days of styling shoots with models for the vintage clothing. Now I’m the model!

Your photos are great and that is one fabby dress – especially paired with the little animal print jacket! I have a denim dress which I’ve worn as a dress or as a duster and I think it’s great to find versatility in our clothing! Have a great weekend!
