Monday

Cough cough.

I just learned that the Long Island Anthropologie that DID carry plus sizes, is no longer doing so! So now NO store on Long Island carries plus sizes in-store. GRRR!

Cough cough.

On a brighter note, I read a DELIGHTFUL book today. LESS by (I keep wanting to say Brian Austin Green) Andrew Sean Greer. But I’ll share more (heh heh, see what I did there??) in the book review section below.

Cough.

Tuesday

thought I would go back to work today, but the cough took a bad turn overnight so I stayed home one more day. I finally left the building in the evening cuz I was out of cough syrup and on the way I took a slight detour just to see some pretty.

And got a slice of pizza 🙂

Wednesday

Back to work. Had labs and an appt with the oncologist after work. Blood work, etc., all fine. And I’ve officially graduated to annual scans from every-six-month scans. Woohoo. But I got snagged on my failure to have a colonoscopy and he was like, yeah. You should go. He’s the nice (if absent-minded) doctor, so, guh. I’ll go. The hardest part of that for me is getting someone to drive me and pick me up, cuz they won’t let you leave under your own devices (or even in an Uber) after anesthesia. I don’t have A Person…and my friends all work full-time, so. I’ll have to figure something out, but. Guh.

This watch arrived that I’d ordered on Amazon. It looked nice on a blogger and it was very inexpensive. But the face is ridiculously large on me. I’ve already packed it up to send back.

And I got this black turtleneck from Jessica London. Their sizing baffles me. Just when I think I understand, and order something confidently, nope. I didn’t understand at all. But it’s not bad, and I’ll be wearing it under things mostly and it’ll stretch and I’ll shrink (ha) so it should be fine. It’s staying. I’ve been looking (read: buying and returning) for a black turtleneck for YEARS. These things shouldn’t be so hard.

And this guy is definitely not dead (Instastories reference).  He’s just waiting to pounce and scare the bejeesus out of me!

Thursday

Work. Had a meeting about Camera Club. I love it, I think it’s going great, but five days a week is just too much for me – I’m not getting my OTHER work done! So we decided to do an alternate week schedule, with Mon-Wed-Fri groups one week, and Tue-Thur groups the next. I think that will help me out.

Made a half-hearted attempt after work to find a dress for the wedding this weekend but in the end just decided to wear something I already have. Meh. Whatever. Look at all the money I saved. Ha.

So I bought two candles at Bath&Body Works while I waited to meet-up with friends for dinner. I actually think this was the first time I’ve eaten out since I started no sugaring! I had a yummy burger (yes, on a roll) with guac and salsa, which was yummy, and a small side salad w bleu cheese dressing that I’m sure had a little sugar but. And I passed on dessert even when my friend suggested sharing the UH-MAZING fresh mini sugared donuts they have with delectable dipping sauces. They weren’t all that the last time I had them and now it just didn’t seem worth it.

Got home and my internet was out which FREAKS. ME. OUT. I can’t live like that. WHO CAN LIVE LIKE THAT?

Friday

Today I zoomed around at work so I could leave at 1:30 and get home to meet the cable technician to fix my internet. Of course, I walked in the door and internet was back on. Sigh.

Saturday

Woke up at 6:30, played on phone for a bit then shut my eyes “for just a few more minutes” and woke up at 11:30am! Ack! I had to leave for the wedding at 4:15 and needed to shoot an outfit for the blog, this was not the time to sleep the day away!

My outfit for the wedding. Not my favorite, but it’s comfortable and the cardigan is like a rayon knit, so a little slinky looking, with just enough sequins for a little bit of sparkle.

I made it work and got to the wedding in plenty of time. This was a big deal cuz Katie was a bridesmaid and I was getting to meet The Boy for the first time. I approve 🙂 I wish I could have talked with him more but I have such a hard time talking with people at events, and hearing over all the noise. I end up just nodding and saying uh-huh, uh-huh, while not hearing a word they say. But he seemed very nice, was outgoing and chatty with people he’d only just met. And they seem totally smitten with one another 🙂

My child is a giant.

This is not The Boy

Sunday

Met up with a friend to go (finally!) visit my niece’s new barn. And new dog.

And then it rained. So I was happy to come home and stay inside. I’m listening to Anna Karenina on Audible (and will be for like the next three months!). There was a quote this morning in it that I liked, “With friends, one is well. At home, one is better.” That is me to a T.

It looks like a relatively quiet week ahead. Katie and The Boy drove to Maryland this morning to visit his family, and then she’s onto Virginia to visit aunts and cousins, while he returns to San Diego for work. She won’t be back on Long Island til Thursday. The friends that I usually do weeknight dinner and weekend fun with are going to France this week for like 9,000 days, So, quiet week at home. At work we’re ramping up for our wine tasting event in two weeks, so work will get a little chaotic.

Life.

What I read

Less by Andrew Sean Greer. Loved loved loved loved loved loved loved. It was a delight. It was charming, a little funny, a little sad, heartwarming. I laughed! I cried! This Greer dude has got it going ON. This is a story of a man who receives a wedding invitation from his longtime ex-boyfriend (Man broke it off, not ExB), and to avoid the discomfort, humiliation, etc. of attending his ex’s wedding, he instead accepts invitations from all around the world (he’s a writer) to speak, teach, accept awards, etc., which he sees as an opportunity for endless distraction from the fact that ExB is getting married and that he, himself, is turning 50. Adventures ensue. Self-realization happens. I don’t want to say more than that but I hope you’ll read it!!! 2 thumbs up and a 4.85/5.

Yes, that’s it! I didn’t have as much reading time this week as I have of late. I started something else but it didn’t immediately grab me so I haven’t made the time to read more of it.

Thanks so much for reading!
