MONDAY

Work. Eat. Stretch. Pet the cat. Repeat.

Breakfast: hamburger patty and hot tea. Lunch: Grilled cheese and limeade. Was busy and didn’t think of snacks.

I had to go to the PO after work for a return so while I was out I drove around the pond, took my ootd picture, went to the market for the things the other market was out of on Friday, and…drumroll please….Got a Slice of Pizza!!! I actually called before going in to see what the new procedure was. I’ve seen restaurants with their doors open and big cardboard signs on the window saying “call your order in and we’ll bring it out to you.” But Pizza Guy said I could just go in. It was thrilling. And it was nice to have World Food for a change.

I feel like I’m starting to see weird coronavirus “competitions” in news headlines, etc. “WE have the most cases in OUR state.” “Well, WE have the most DEATHS!” Am I the only one thinking that?

TUESDAY

Work. Eat. Juice. Marinate chicken. Drive around. GET COFFEE. Talk with friend on phone while sitting in closed summer camp parking lot. What a Day!

This is quite possibly the prettiest cream of spinach soup I’ve ever made!

And this is quite possibly the prettiest (and biggest!) hand of ginger I’ve ever seen!

The best thing I saw all day was John Krasinski’s Some Good News. I’ve adored John (yes, we’re on a first-name basis) since The Office, and his new YouTube series is as charming as he always seemed to me.

WEDNESDAY

Ooh, Wednesday was a very exciting day! Oh. Wait. No, it wasn’t. It was just like all the other days.

did start walking for my organization’s fundraiser Step Up for Autism, a virtual campaign you can do from anywhere. How good was THAT timing, huh? To have a virtual fundraiser right when we’re all quarantined (#closeenough)?? This is the first thing all year that has worked in our favor. We’ve had to cancel two events already – one of them our biggest of the year. Anyway, if anyone was looking for a little nudge to get out there and exercise during this time, this is a good nudge, cuz you’re also helping out an organization that provides support and services (even now during coronavirus) to children, adults, and families with autism. I don’t generally use my platform to ask for things – and I’m not even asking, I’m just letting y’all know.

Anyway, my goal for the month is 25 miles…which may not be a lot, but it’s a lot for ME. Especially when I’m not doing fun things (with a lot of walking) on the weekends with my friends.

THURSDAY

Janey has a new friend

Today is World Autism Awareness Day so I TRIED to dye my hair blue (remember the dyes I bought?) but…it was not meant to be. I did use the colorant – it’s not actually a “dye,” it’s a “conditioning color leaver,” or something like that. It was a LITTLE blue. Ish. But it was so GLOPPY! I could barely get the brush through it, there was no way I could leave it like that. So I had to get back in the shower (third time that day!) to shampoo it to get the gloppiness out. And…it also took the blueness out. I mean, *I* can see the SLIGHTEST difference in my hair color – the white section of my bangs looks a little less white and a little more grey. And that’s it. Annoying for all that effort. I even had to go up to CVS at lunchtime (where’s a 40% off coupon when you need one??) to get a BOX of hair color just for the plastic gloves!

Sigh. I was all set for it and this is the perfect time to do it – so it would be washed out by the time I go back to work…and if it looked horrible, no one was going to see me now, anyway!

So, have you played with Google’s new 3d animal toy on your phone? It’s fun, but I will say I had a little trouble getting it to work. I finally had to go OFF Google (oh the horror) onto another search engine and then the “view in 3d” thing popped right up.

I tried to get Pony Boy to help me with the laundry but he was not having it.

Did I ever tell you that when I was in 4-5th grade, I tried to change my name to Pony? Pony Rainwater? I couldn’t get anyone to actually call me that, but amazingly, teachers didn’t complain when I put Pony Rainwater as my name at the top of assignments.

FRIDAY

I’m done.

Oh – what the heck is THIS about?? Does this mean something that I’m unaware of? How do those things even go together? Anybody? Anybody? Anybody?

SATURDAY

What is Saturday, really??

Sunday

Got the baking bug and made the WORST oatmeal chocolate chip cookies EVER. They taste like flour cookies. It was a normal recipe, I don’t know what happened. PS – did you know (for those of you who don’t have a cookie sheet) that you can bake cookies on a pizza stone? Yes, I have a pizza stone and NO cookie sheet. It’s a crazy mixed-up world.

I made a prototype mask as it is now recommended that everyone wear them. They probably should have said that from the beginning. I think masked is a good look for me.

This is Katie’s stuffed animal puppy watching the apartments across the street flash their lights while people clapped and whistled and car horns honked in thanks for all the health care workers. She has her own Instagram account @siberian_skylar_ray

MONDAY

I went to work at school this afternoon so I could do laundry while I was there. Then to the market where I had to stand in line for the first time as they were limiting the number of people in the store.

I wore my bandana mask out in the public for the first time and it was Not Good. Because it’s all folded up it’s too thick and hot, I was mad sweating under it and it kept fogging my glasses up. I was glad to get out of there and into my car and get it off!

Score!

The market was definitely emptier than the last time I was there. No paper products again, low supply on many fruits/cheese/meats/etc. Everytime I go I grab a couple extra things in case I can’t get back out for a couple weeks. I’m sure I could survive a month or more on what I have here now, but it’s not FUN food 🙂

After the market, I stopped in the empty library parking lot and did a quick photoshoot while there was no one around.

And that’s it, folks! Seemed like A Very Long Week. When I just previewed this post and saw Monday, I was like that wasn’t just LAST Monday, was it?  I could be losing my mind. It’s quite possible I’ve shared this post before. Oh well.

Stay safe out there!
