I bought a couple “things” – a new small non-stick pan for eggs and a glass baking dish cuz mine is still lost in a box somewhere. These were both in-person purchases at the Corning Outlet when we went upstate in the beginning of the month, so no pictures. And I bought a couple little gifties online for people, but can’t share cuz they might see 🙂

Onto the clothes!

J. CREW SOPHIE OPEN-FRONT SWEATER-BLAZER IN KHAKI, size 22

I’ve loved this since last fall. I tried the coatigan last year, but it was ginormous, even with sizing down. And then I got the actual camel coat and figured one cold-weather camel-colored thing was enough. But I never got the sweater blazer out of my head after almost a whole year. So…I tried again when J. Crew had a big sale and it was 60% off. AND I love it! I like it as both a part of an outfit as well as a jacket.

Always on the search for The Perfect Striped Tee…this J Crew top just seems like the epitome of Paris chic/American casual. The bad news is, this was not on sale at the time…but I few days later I realized I’d actually bought a LARGE when I really need a 3x…but the good news is that now it was on sale! So I ordered the 3x at the discounted price and just returned the “large” as soon as it arrived. A Happy Accident. And Happy Ending, it’s really good.

Old Navy was having a really good sale and I had a weak moment.

Old Navy EveryWear Striped Slub-Knit Plus-Size Long-Sleeve Tee

EveryWear Striped Slub-Knit Plus-Size Long-Sleeve Tee

Sorry about the teeny pic but it’s no longer available online so they removed the picture from the shopping side. It’s just a good, casual, long-sleeved tee for fall. It’ll go over all three denim colors I have: black, blue, white.

Old Navy Rib-Knit V-Neck Plus-Size Cardigan Sweater

Rib-Knit V-Neck Plus-Size Cardigan Sweater

Y’all saw this one over the green dress last week. It’s part of my Get Shorter Tops movement so if I ever DO find a skirt, I’ll have a proportionate length sweater to wear with it. Also trying to normalize showing my lower belly and NOT wearing long things all the time to cover it up. Because those long tops make me look short and stumpy. And that’s as bad as a lower belly.

Old Navy Cozy Open-Front Long-Line Plus-Size Sweater in Into the Woods (aka brown), size 2x

Cozy Open-Front Long-Line Plus-Size Sweater

I wore this over the burnt orange dress last week. I liked. This is part of my Stop Buying Duster Length Cardigans movement. Oh! I have to put that on my “Don’t Buy” list! I liked wearing it. It was soft and cozy without being bulky, the sleeves were snug. I’ll really like the length with jeans. I committed to letting go of my chestnut cardigan of several years because it’s just too big and needed something brown-toned for winter.

Old Navy High-Waisted Elevate Powersoft Plus-Size 7/8-Length Side-Pocket Leggings, size 3x

High-Waisted Elevate Powersoft Plus-Size 7/8-Length Side-Pocket Leggings

I LOVE the fabric. I’ve only ever had cottony leggings and these are more…smooth and shiny? Not as shiny as the faux leather leggings, but sort of along those lines. I have wanted a pair of leggings with pockets for ages! Every time I go walking, I’m carrying my cell phone and my keys…and heaven forbid I want a water bottle! I wore these last weekend on the ALS Walk and it was so good to be able to slip my phone into a pocket. Yay.

Target Universal Thread Short-Sleeve Wrap Dress in Light Brown, size 2x

Women's Short Sleeve Wrap Dress - Universal Threadâ„¢ - image 1 of 12

I’ve been watching this dress all summer…on a couple bloggers, on the Target website…and I loved it, I just couldn’t decide on a color! There were so many good ones! This one is called “light brown” but it looked more dusty rose to me, but I took a chance that I would like it. It also came in a sage+army green color that was pretty and would look nice with my cognac accessories for fall…but something about this dusty-rose-light-brown-whatever-the-heck-it-is…just grabbed me.

However. It was A LOT. The fit was actually pretty good. But between the slight “puffiness” to the fabric and the fact that the wrap skirt was double-layered in the front…and it was long…I just sort of felt smothered in it. And it wasn’t really doing me any favors. So back it went. If I was taller…I might have kept it. I’m disappointed cuz it’s SO cute. But if it feels weird on me, I’ll never wear it.

Old Navy EveryWear Slub-Knit Long Sleeved Tee in Jet Stream

EveryWear Slub-Knit V-Neck Plus-Size Long-Sleeve Tee

It looked much more green on the website, like a forest green. In reality it was clearly teal. Which was not my wish. It went back.

Old Navy Loose Soft Woven Tunic Shirt in Black

Loose Soft-Woven No-Peek Plus-Size Tunic Shirt

The black is currently sold out so I can only show a picture of the green. I was hoping it would be The Black Blouse of my dreams so I wouldn’t have to keep lusting after the Universal Standard one. But it was NOT The Black Blouse of my dreams. It was a nice rayon blouse. But (and here come some of my neckline issues) the collar was large and flopsy. Like, the collar laid down flat. I like a collar to stand up against my neck. Like this:

Tailored Non-Iron Shirt

See the difference? It may not seem like much. But the top collar seems casual, easy-going. The bottom collar seems confident and commanding to me. That’s a power collar. I want a power collar 🙂

I know, I’m a lunatic.

Old Navy Printed Tie-Neck Plus-Size Swing Tunic

Printed Tie-Neck Plus-Size Swing Blouse

This was really cute. Fit nicely, a nice soft rayon. But in life, it’s all about timing. It was so lightweight…and it’s already getting cooler here and I don’t really wear cardigans over these sort of “peasant blouse” tops, so I was not sure when I was going to wear it! It just didn’t seem worth the $ for something that would get so little wear right now. If it was May, I’d have been all in.

Yeah, September was kind of a big purchasing month. I think the early cool temps made me panic a bit and feel unprepared. Gotta take it easy in October!

Remember getting “back to school clothes” every year? I feel like you’d always get All New Clothes. And now I feel guilty for getting six things.
