Workday Wardrobe ~ Nov 23-27
MONDAY
Ooh, Formula Redux! At long last, I am the preppy boy of my 1970’s dreams.
Creating a look that appears unstudied and casual is as challenging as creating that perfect “no make-up” make-up look! It’s not just “put A over B over C.” There’s so much more to it. I think the struggle for me has always been fit and proportion.
Layering has always been problematic for me. It’s challenging enough to find ONE thing to fit in that “loose enough to not be snug/binding but not so loose as to appear unfitted and messy” way. But to have to find TWO things like that, to do the A over B? Oofah.
It’s also length. Items with a large enough circumference to go around my largest part (hipstummybutt) were also LONG, and TOO MUCH B poking out under A is not good on me (I see slimmer, longer-legged people pulling off that proportion, but on me it just makes it look like my feet are growing out of my hips).
And that %**($%^&%! collar issue. The two collars need to be compatible. A flat-lying collar would not look like this with this crewneck sweater. An upright collar wouldn’t work with a larger sweater collar opening, like a scoop or boatneck.
SO MANY THINGS. Many bodies have many more clothing/fit options available to them. Someone with fewer options (due to size, budget, etc) has much more trouble finding compatible items.
But here, today, I Win 🙂

TUESDAY
Working from home today, all casual-like.
This is another top gifted to me by Vislily, bestowers of The Perfect V-Neck/Stretchy Sleeve Situation Wine Top. I’ve always liked the baseball jersey style with the different colored sleeves but don’t think I’ve ever actually owned one before (at age 60, all her dreams came true), unless you count swiping my ex-husband’s. It looked better on me, so…
Top: Black and grey baseball jersey, size 3x | gifted
Buttondown: Blue chambray Tencel buttondown | Charlotte Russe | 3x | Old/ Comparable here and here.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans | 22 short
Sneakers: Convere Shoreline slip-on sneakers
WEDNESDAY
Today is my Friday. YAY.
Thought I’d dress up a bit for work today…in honor of tomorrow’s holiday for which I will not be dressing up. I probably won’t even be getting dressed, so…I figured I could make a little effort today.
I keep wanting to put this v-neck over the white blouse (love a buttondown under a v-neck) but that is a level of effort I have so far been unable to attain.
This chestnut knit was a random drive-by Target purchase. I saw it and had to have it, didn’t even try it on, just knew it was meant to be. And it was a good hunch as I’ve worn it many times and still find myself reaching for it often.
Top: Target v-neck knit pullover | 3x | available in straight and plus sizes
Pants: J Crew High-rise Cameron pant in four-season stretch | navy | 24
Shoes: Black Aerosoles Betunia loafers
Coat: J Crew Italian Boiled Wool Coat | 22 | currently out of stock, comparable here
THURSDAY
Just picture a slob with greasy hair in a nightgown lying on the sofa all day, puffy/red-eyed from crying, watching Those Shows all day. Note all the food bowls, snack wrappers, and empty glasses on the side table next to me and you pretty much see my Look of the Day.
FRIDAY
Forced myself to put on a bra clothes today so I would move. My only movement yesterday was going back and forth between the kitchen and living room, so I figured I’d make more of an effort today. I’ve been sort of rotating each day between jump rope practice (which is not going well but it can only get better, right?), BTS dance practice (see “jump rope practice” above), and yoga. Ish. Somedays I get home and am so overcome with GET THIS DAMN BRA OFF that I get changed before I move. And then I don’t move. But I’m trying to remember to not do that.
Ignore still greasy hair. Putting on clothes maxed me out.
Top: Avenue cream long-sleeve tee | 3x | old
Leggings: Catherine’s navy capri leggings | 3x | only available in blackÂ
Barefeet: It’s a challenge doing any sort of movement on carpeting; having bare-feet vs sneakers helps a little bit. Still, I dream of slippery floors.
I just realized this was the last full week in November. We’re just flying through it now!
See ya next time 🙂

I also just found your blog and look forward to every new posting. I really liked the clothes you wore on Tuesday. Those colours light up your face and are very flattering. The dancing is an added bonus 😀

Thanks so much, Helen!

The dancing – love it.
I agree on the layering. I try but I feel tightly bound.

Yes, that was always me, too! But now that I’m finding looser-fitting items that are also very thin and pliable it is making all the difference. Plus, not wearing two fabrics that would “friction-stick” together, if that makes sense.
