All my plus-size outfits, for better or worse, as we head from spring into summer. It’s getting warmer now and heavy jeans will start to be swapped out for dresses and, if I can find any (!?!), linen pants.

SATURDAY

Ahh, a favorite shirt, this black plaid flannel has been in the clothing hamper since DECEMBER. Which is really a shame cuz it missed most of the winter and typically I wear it a LOT. I went to the laundromat Friday night so finally washed some things that have been out of commission for a while.

It’s cold and rainy today so I get to wear cozy clothes. I’ve had this Okey Dokey Yo tee for a while but, like most graphic tees from “printing sites,” the fit was poor. Large in the shoulders and underarms, too long and too snug through the belly-hips. In a moment of desperation, I lay it sloppily on the bed and whacked off the bottom 4″ which was the snuggest part. Then I did the “squat down and pull the shirt over your knees down to your ankles” thing for about a minute to stretch it out. And presto-poofo, it fit well enough to be worn under another shirt.

Someday I’ll actually do the “soaking in fabric softener (or is it hair conditioner?) and then tugging it wider while wet” thing that’s supposed to really make tees larger. But in the meantime I really wanted to wear this tee under this plaid flannel. And I liked it!

SUNDAY

Cold and rainy again. I’m grateful. Before I know it it’s going to be hot, humid, and miserable, so…I’m appreciating this weather while it’s here.

Weirdly I woke up this morning and my first thought was, “hmm, I’ve never worn the cobalt blue merino knit under the red plaid flannel.” Ha. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.

So…I did. And I liked it.

These two Tahari merino wool knit sweaters (this and the taupey-oatmeal one) have to be one of my best clothing purchases. A THIN natural fiber knit that can be worn on its own, under something, or over something – such a valuable wardrobe piece.

MONDAY

Memorial Day. TRIED to give a nod towards the American holiday with red tee under a blue+white striped button-down but…it wasn’t working for me. I struggle with red. So I switched to the white tee under the striped button-down, but I was having collar issues. A) compatibility issues and B) shape/size of button-down collar to begin with.

Should I do a post on collars/necklines? Do I have more issues with them than other people? I know I have a lot of issues with them, but…I feel like I’m RIGHT, ha ha.

There’s a sound on TikTok – and for those non-tiktokkers, “sounds” are text/music overlays you play against different videos. So this particular trend is a video of someone saying something like, “I only do/wear/eat THIS…” and then the sound kicks in with, “does that mean…I’m…BETTER THAN EVERYBODY ELSE?” It’s funnier when you see it. But anyway, I sort of feel like this with my collar neckline things…I don’t think I’m explaining this well, but.

ANYWAY. That problematic collar shirt came off and the blue chambray shirt (#oldfriend) went on. No American red white and blue for me, oh well.

White Tee: (on which I promptly spilled coffee, which made me laugh cuz just that morning I’d been watching an episode of BTS’ Bon Voyage, their travel series. This was season one, episode one, and it starts with the CEO coming to the boys at 8:50pm and saying, “we’re going to Norway/Finland/Sweden for a week. You have 50 minutes to pack and you can only bring carry-on luggage.” Chaos ensued (of course). But the younger boys all looked to Namjoon (the leader) for guidance in how to pack. His advice was to pack how they normally dress so they’re comfortable…and to NOT bring white shirts, “bring colors that won’t show dirt. Grey.” ha ha. I should have taken his advice.) TUESDAY

Back to work, looking like a teacher. Ha ha. It’s okay, I’m tired.

I’m being very drawn to blue+green combos lately. I think it’s springy without being too obvious? I don’t know what that means exactly, ha.

And I’m still on the lookout for this color jeans in my size. I mean, obviously these are my size, but they’re old and the sizing/fit was different back then (they’re probably 5-6 years old). I don’t know the name of the color and there are always a couple that seem like MAYBE they’re it, when I look online. But it’s such a good color. Gives white vibes without being so contrasty with the other colors you put it with. And I love that low-contrast vibe.

My supervisor came in and was talking about some pretty fabrics she’d seen over the weekend that combined blue and green and she was like, “I’ve never thought of blue and green going together…I don’t think I’ve ever seen them together…” and I’m just sitting there like HELLO???”

WEDNESDAY

FINALLY! THE DAY HAS COME! NEW WHITE SNEAKER DAY! I broke down and just went with the same Keds Champions I’ve had for like 10 years (and in other iterations all throughout my adult life) cuz I just could not find anything like what I was looking for and I needed to be able to include my summer dresses in my summer wardrobe cuz. Just cuz. Hot.

BUT, I ordered some elastic shoelaces for them, that hopefully once I tie, will be able to stay tied and I’ll just slip the shoes on and off cuz tying shoes for me is the worst kind of torture. I almost gave up on these this morning but I powered through and got it done. But if I have to face THAT everyday, I just won’t wear the shoes.

And, dress. This is that Junarose dress I searched two years for on every used clothing site and finally find it in my size, unworn with tags still on, for like a quarter of the original price. Score.

Same supervisor came in today and pointed at me AGAIN and said, “I never would have thought of that color combination!”

BLUE AND YELLOW??

I think she’s just messing with me now.

THURSDAY

Probably the latest I’ve overslept on a work day, gah! So, a hurried “safety” outfit. Jeans + blouse + cardigan + sneakers on basic solid, sort of low contrast colors. Always works.

I have to say MY CAMERA IS KILLING ME. The wireless remote situation wasn’t working, and after multiple battery changes, heartfelt pep-talks, and threats, I finally gave up and bought a new set. And it STILL isn’t working. So clearly the camera is at fault, not the wireless remote/shutter duo. But I can’t figure out WHAT the problem is. I think it is focus-related, but that doesn’t help me FIX IT. Camera malfunction stress is right up there for me with car and internet problems. I use my camera, and especially the “selfie tools,” WAYYY too much for it/them to not be working with a cooperative spirit. And no time this week to take it to a shop for a check-up. So, daily photography irritation.

Ending a day early so I’m not trying to finish this up on the already-hectic day that I’m leaving for Florida.
