Week in Review: Week 274
The week that seemed like six weeks. In a good way. There’s a lot of pictures so I’m going to keep the text to a minimum.
If I can.
Succinct posts not my forte.
MONDAY
Still in Florida. Katie had work, I had homework, so we just stayed home and did our thing. Together. Which is what I like most.
While I was resting in my room in the afternoon they surprised me by ordering Korean delivery and it was SO GOOD.
TUESDAY
Visited a sunken tropical garden. It was nice. But HOT. The theme of the week.
Came home and rested. With puppies. (#oxymoron).
Went to the beach for dinner and sunset.
Drove home in a thunderstorm with the sunroof and windows open, my arm getting pelted with rain outside the window. It was lovely.
Air. I do love air.
WEDNESDAY
Mostly just prepared to come back home.
Tried to do my Korean class at the airport on my phone. Ha. I missed a LOT. But I didn’t want to miss it ALL.
OH. I don’t understand how people watch movies on their laptops on airplanes. I downloaded episodes of the Netflix show I was watching….but then Delta had no internet access so I couldn’t log into Netflix to access the downloads…so what’s the point of downloading?? Flying down on JetBlue we had internet and I got to watch my shows the whole way down, which was really nice. The man next to me seemed to enjoy it, too.
THURSDAY
I got home SO LATE last night. The driver couldn’t find me. I couldn’t find the driver. It took almost an hour of me waiting out in the humid night for us to realize he was at the wrong terminal. I got home right before 2am.
I did NOTHING. It was glorious.
FRIDAY
Did blog stuff and Korean homework and practice (it’s a LOT). I may go back to just three posts a week for the duration of the class. It’s getting hard to fit everything in and be giving it all my best effort.
Went to dinner in town with a friend. Was nice to see people out and about.
SATURDAY
Went to NY Botanical Garden with a friend to see the Yayoi Kusama exhibit. We’d seen another exhibit of hers back in 2018 and never forgot the silver balls. Such a simple concept but somehow so pleasing.
Then to lunch on Arthur Avenue, which is the main street of Little Italy in the Bronx. It was GOOD.
My friend brought me the cat ears.
We did a LOT of walking. Four miles. That’s a LOT for me. My hips were just DONE after we ate. And the car was parked up a hill. It was a struggle, but I lived to tell the tale.
I gave myself the evening off and read my book out on the patio til dark then came in and caught up on I Promised You the Moon. It’s sad. The first season, I Told Sunset About You, was heartbreaking with longing…but you were watching them come together…and now in this season I feel like we’re watching them come apart. And it’s just sad. Only two episodes left.
SUNDAY
I may or may not have gotten up at 5am to watch the live stream of BTS’ 8th Anniversary concert celebration. I’m sure my landlords were like WE’RE STARTING WITH THIS NOW??? Ha.
I spent most of the rest of the day doing homework and making more flash cards. I live for flash cards. I’m actually pretty pleased that I’m learning as much as I am relatively easily. I actually understood a (brief) sentence in a k-drama the other night during a subtitle-less moment. I was so excited! Old dogs, baby!
Back to work tomorrow for me. It was a nice vacation. Eight weeks-ish til the next one.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Bettye, you have a wonderful way with words AND a gift for photography. Loved seeing your photos! So glad you had a good time with your daughter. What are your plans for your next vacation?

Thanks for the kind words, Charlene 🙂
I don’t usually plan much for the end of summer vacation, I just like to veg, some beach days, some putter around the house days, etc.
Sally in St Paul
Polka dot T to the exhibit…well played. And BTS talked to the insect walking on the stage? I mean. Now you’re turning me into a fan.

I know she always does something with orange and black polka dots so it seemed very apropos 🙂
And yes! Stopped to talk to the bug walking across the stage. Ha. They’re just delightful.

The print mixing just tickles my fancy….considering how minimalistic you are, you are a pro!!! It goes to show that there’s many sides to you (and all of us, really)
Love the puppies too!! My husband came by right when they were on my screen, and commented!!

My minimalism goes out the window when I have the components of a good pattern mix. You’ll see it much more in summer than winter, though.

I love the polka dot top and striped dress together! Also those snaps of you at the beach at sunset are GORGEOUS!
So proud of you for learning a new language- and Korean, at that! Not one that “sounds” or looks like English- you are a boss, lady!

Thanks, Ashley! There’s nothing like a good pattern mix! And we had such a nice evening at the beach. As soon as we left, a thunderstorm started so it was nice we had the time that we did.
Gam sa ham ni da (thank you)! It’s being a really fun experience! I loved studying French in high school, I’d forgotten how much. I’m already finding I can make out some words in subtitles and song lyrics, which is really exciting.
Lovely
I love your pictures at the sea and that’s a beautiful sunset! Love your polka dots top and the pattern mixing is really cool!

Thanks so much! It was such a lovely evening at the beach…even with dark storm clouds rolling in!
