Plus-size vacation outfits! Which, in another couple weeks, will just be regular old summer outfits, but for now they seem fresh and new.

I did lose track of what I’d done on what days this week while I was away, so some of the outfit pics are actually TikTok videos…but they’re all less than 60 seconds.

FRIDAY

Hi! Hi! Good Morning!

I’m leaving for the airport straight from work this afternoon so I’m a mess today! After my recent Airport Style post, here I am, looking like a schlub. Travel clothes are hard and I never have just the right things. Plus, I had to be at work. Plus, going to HOT HOT Florida.

So I went with comfortable jeans, easy-to-slip-on sneakers for going through security, a tee-shirt in case it was hot, a button-down in case it was cold on the plane, and a super lightweight jacket in case it was REALLY cold on the plane. Which it was.

White Tee: Old Navy, 3x. 2021
Button-down: Madewell, 3x. 2020
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short, Scottsdale wash. 2021
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons. 2020

SATURDAY

First day in Florida, up early for a manni-pedi appointment. I like easy access to feet with nothing to have to roll up or down before or after foot soak part. Plus, HOT. Which will be the over-riding then for the rest of time that I’m here.

So, I chose this super lightweight viscose dress that’s very loose to allow for maximum airflow. And flip-flops for easy on- off. I don’t wear flip flops anymore in the interest of my feet, but these are Vionic, so have some arch support and are better than $2 Old Navy flip flops.

Dress: Junarose, 22. 2017.
Sneakers: Keds Champions, canvas. 2021
Puppy: A Little Angel Straight From Heaven, 2021

SUNDAY

What do you wear to a glass-blowing class?? I dunno. But this is what I wore. Shirt-sleeved, breathable tee shirt that if I somehow set on fire, I would not be devastated. Jeans for fire protection on my legs, but cropped to allow a little airflow. Sneakers cuz open sandals just seemed unwise.

It was HOT. If I lived here I would need All Linen Everything.

Green Tee: Asos, 3x. 2016
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 22 short, Callisto wash. 2018
Sneakers: Keds Champions, canvas. 2012

MONDAY

I was tired, Katie was working, I had my online class, so…it was an at-home day. So I was able to get away with heavy jeans. I’ve been trying to get some linen pants (aren’t I always?) but I’ve been unsuccessful. They would have been perfect for this hot trip. The ac was on high all day so the chambray button-down was appreciated.

Top: Anthropologie, 3x. 2019
Button-down: Charlotte-Russe, 3x. 2016
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short, Scottsdale wash. 2021
Sandals: Birkenstock Arizona taupe suede. 2020

TUESDAY

Headed back out into the world today: a sunken garden in the afternoon, then dinner near the beach, then beach sunset, so…a lot of HOT. Walking in the garden made me choose comfy but old sneakers and the sleeveless rayon top. The cropped baggy jeans are the coolest (relatively speaking) pants I have here, so…

This week is about “real style,” for sure.

Sleeveless Rayon Top: 3x. 2016

Sneakers: Keds Champions, canvas. 2012

WEDNESDAY

TikTok Video

Flying home this evening, so trying to be comfy, cool, and keep my checked suitcase as light as possible.

Oversized linen shirt for coolness and comfort…heaviest jeans to keep luggage weight done, and heaviest/easiest to slip on-off at airport sneakers. Carried my lightweight tencel hooded jacket in case plane was cool (which it almost always is).

Linen Button-down: J Jill, 4x. 2019
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short, Scottsdale wash. 2021
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons. 2020

THURSDAY

Ha Ha Ha, look familiar? I would honestly wear this shirt every day in the summer if no one was watching. I actually just went to J Jill to bite the bullet and get one on another color so I DON’T wear this one every day, but…they were out of ALL the other colors. I think they usually have black (want), lilac (want), and blue and white stripe, and maybe also a light blue? But…summer. People have already snatched them all up. I miss out on so many things when I wait them for to go on sale 🙁

Plus, these cropped, baggy jeans (if only I had a belt!) are cooler than my other pairs cuz a) they’re looser, and b) the fabric has gotten a little thinner due to years of washing. And open shoes always preferred in hot weather.

Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 22 short, Callisto wash. 2018

FRIDAY

Spent the day on the computer working: blogging and Korean homework (it’s a LOT) but now I’m headed out to dinner with a friend and wanted to be out of jeans after this past week.

So, the “invisible” black YOUKNOWHERE dress with a Tencel chambray over it like a light jacket, and the new Keds.

Note: SHOELACES. I thought I was being clever and bought elastic shoelaces to swap the original ones out for, thinking that would turn the shoes into slip-ons (like my old laceless ones were). The problem is they’re snug enough (due to elastic laces, puffy summer feet, and high instep), that when I push my foot in, they take the tongue in with them, to a spot so far back I can’t reach it. Then I have to UNtie the shoes to pull the tongue to where it belongs, then asphyxiate myself bending over to tie the shoes, which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place.

WHY IS LIFE SO HARD SOMETIMES?

So I’m wondering how much it would cost to have the shoe guy attach the tongue to the top of the shoe with elastic tabs (the way the Converse slip-ons are so I never have this problem) so they would truly be slip-ons. I know I keep these shoes for a LONG TIME. I’ve had the old ones almost 10 years. I think the extra expense would be worth it for that sort of lifespan and not having to dread (or worse, avoid) wearing the shoes!

Black Dress: The Store That Shall Remain Nameless, size 22. 2015.
Chambray Button-Down: Charlotte Russe, 3x. 2016
Sneakers: Canvas Keds Champions with elastic shoelaces

And that’s vacation week! It was hot and I didn’t make a lot of effort.
