Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ July 3-9
Another week of Plus Size Summer Outfits: Casual Edition, as most of work is still closed and we are in the building pretty much by ourselves. And it’s hot.
SATURDAY
It’s July…but it’s cool today. ALL THE YAY. So, I got to layer it up for my deli-run. With open sandals.
If I ever WORE socks, I might have worn socks with my sandals. Cuz grandpa.

TUESDAY
Ninety-plus-degree-dr-appointment-in-the-city outfit of the day.
This dress is so good on really hot days. The rayon batiste fabric is a pleasure and there’s so much fabric, that what SOUNDS like a heavy drapery nightmare is really a swishy delight.
It was too hot for me to wear anything on top…so you KNOW it was hot.
Dress: Osie-duro, 3x. 2020
Sneakers: Keds Champions, 2021
WEDNESDAY
Happy 4th Anniversary, Junarose dress! You have served me well and I still love you. You are still a joy to wear – light, cool, floaty, easy.
I appreciate your gentle color palette and interesting bird & feather print.
Remember the time I shrunk you and thought our time together had come to an end? But, miracle of miracles, I was able to wet-stretch you back into shape and we’ve had many more happy times.
Thank you for keeping me cool on the hottest days.
Happy Anniversary, Junarose dress xoxo

Cardigan: Old Navy, 2x. 2018. Comparable here.
Sneakers: Keds Champions, 2021
THURSDAY
I do love this brick red/mustard print with the faded blue Tencel chambray button-down. I have yet to find a color this shirt DOESN’T go with.
Unbuttoned button-downs are the new cardigans.
Print top: Anthropologie, 3x. 2019
Button-down: Charlotte Russe, 3x. 2016. Comparable here.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
Sneakers: Navy Converse Shoreline slip-ons. 2021
FRIDAY
Defensive dressing at its finest. We’ve got some bits of Hurricane Elsa hitting us today and there is rain and flooding all over the place.
So not wearing anything precious, for sure. Dark wash jeans and black sneakers that won’t show wet marks. T-shirt with loose unbuttoned blouse over top so I have a layer to take off if I get rained on.
Which I did, cuz my raincoat (which isn’t even really a raincoat but at least it has a hood) was nowhere to be found this morning, so I dashed to the car through the rain, unprotected.
Have you seen my raincoat?
Button-down: Madewell Boyfriend, 3x. 2020. Comparable here.
White Tee: Old Navy, 3x. 2021
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
Sneakers: Black Converse Shoreline slip-ons. 2020

I do love those two dresses, Bettye, especially the green one. I think you rock dresses, true!

Thanks, Penny!

My favorite this week is the maroon print top + light blue/chambray button up shirt. That seems like it shouldn’t work but it does!

I loved that combo, too. I might have explained why I thought the two pieces would work well together on TikTok but keep thinking I’ll do a blog post about how I decide what colors/prints I think will play nicely. Maybe I can whip that up tonight!
But, plus, that faded chambray color seems to go with EVERYTHING. At least in my wardrobe. Maybe it’s cuz I have mostly warm-toned colors and that gentle blue is a good contrast (blue opposite yellow on color wheel, and those autumnal warm-toned colors are yellow-based).
