MONDAY, JANUARY 31

My friend who “snowbirds” in Florida, came and got me and we had a nice afternoon together.

We went to a cute little town, Gulfport, not far from Katie. Had lunch there.

Then continued onto Passa-Grille in search of “ice cream on the beach.” We were there for sunset. Then had a light dinner on an upper balcony overlooking the beach and long-glowing sunset sky. I was FREEZING again (sitting outside – cuz I’m an idiot – in linen shirt and pants and no jacket).

We shared CRAB PIZZA. Suffice it to say it was worth freezing for.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 1

The child came back today and we chatted while she kept lying down for “just ten more minutes.” For four hours.

Apple. Tree. Yeah.

She brought me to the airport for my flight home, always a little sad. I hate leaving her (or her leaving me). I love being with her even if we’re not DOING anything.

But good news, The Snow Fairy dug my car out after the snowstorm so I easily got my car out of the airport parking lot without having to traipse through the snow in my sneakers.

It’s my 3-year anniversary in this apartment. Those years went fast. I feel like I never really unpacked and “moved in” and I’m already starting the long road to moving out.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 2

Today is my mother’s birthday. She was born 100 years ago today on 2/2/1922. She loved the number alliteration of all the 2’s.

I finally had my passport appointment today to submit the application, pay all the monies, etc. That was, literally, two years in the making. At least I can finally check that off the list and move onto the next thing(s).

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3

Drippy dreary day. Back in routine. Yesterday was English, today is Korean. English so boring, ha ha. I’m trying to do 5 hours a week (it’s a 120-hour course and must be completed within 6 mos so I really have to push to keep up with it). The PLAN was 30 mins per day Mon-Fri, then 2.5 hours on the weekend when I have more time but…all it takes is a couple missed weekdays and…I’m behind. I don’t even know exactly where I am right now, hour-wise. I FEEL like I’m behind schedule. Maybe I should figure that out; maybe it’s not as bad as I think and I can relax a bit.

Nope. Can’t find that info. Ugh. Just gotta push through.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4

After yesterday’s oh woe is me I’m falling behind, ha ha, I pretty much gave myself the afternoon off. I’m tired. And I’m getting a pretty consistent eye-twitch in my right eye. I bet that’s a combination of being tired and too much screen time.

I’m reminded of the foot doctor who told me to “just stay off my feet” to help relieve my plantar fasciitis and heel spur pain. HOW DO YOU STAY OFF YOUR FEET??

HOW DO I STAY OFF THE SCREEN? 97.8% of what I do in life is on the computer or phone: blogging, ebay, TEFL, studying Korean, TikTok, Instagram…not to mention, just recreational drama and video-watching.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 5

Gotta move a ton of stuff to make room to take pictures for ebay.

Oh My God. To Do List WIN. I literally worked from 8am-8pm on THINGS I NEEDED TO DO. No goofing off, no endless TikTok scrolling, no going down the rabbit-hole of Korean apartments. Whoa. Got a bunch of things listed on ebay…which was SO time-consuming. When I used to do that full-time, I had tasks broken out by day. I took all my pictures on Tuesday. Wednesday was thrift store day cuz Salvation Armies mark things down on Wednesdays. Did all my editing Thursday. Measured and inspected items for flaws on Friday (this was practically like a day off…especially when I could get Katie to do it for me). Saturday was writing up listings and most posts went live Saturday night for 7-days. Sunday was packing up sold items. Monday was The Day of Rest (haha yeah right). Now I’m trying to do it all in one day, which…is not the best plan. But I’m just barely getting my “every day” things done, to add MORE? Sigh.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 6

BEFORE

BEFORE

BEFORE

DURING

AFTER (I ran out of steam before I could finish the pile on the chair)

AFTER

AFTER – so happy to get the clothing rack out of the bedroom. It’s all stuff currently listed on ebay (and 2 of my coats). I need to empy it out a bit before I can list more cuz there’s nowhere else for it to go!

AFTER – I FINALLY have my laundry hamper IN THE CLOSET happy happy joy joy

I don’t think I can stick to my to-do list today. It had a ton more stuff on it, just not (as much) ebay. When I woke up this morning I was just doing some recreational social media browsing and the eye twitch was HARDCORE. So I’m going to le the To-Do list slide (well, most of it – I’ll just do what MUST be done today) and try to stay off-screen for a couple hours straight. I have some straightening up to do…and cooking for the week. I’ll try to do actually DO those things. Maybe I can even READ for a little bit.

HA HA HA HA HA.

I made a little video for January…I’m gonna try and start doing those again, I liked doing them.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

Our Beloved Summer

I haven’t shared a k-drama in a long time, but this one was JUST so sweet…quiet, touching, a little angsty but not too much, with BEAUTIFUL photography and cinematography, and a really nice soundtrack. Nice characters well played. Two thumbs up. And another that I would recommend as a starter k-drama if anyone was interested.

Did I tell you I watched two episodes of Emily in Paris with Katie when I was there for Christmas? And just Could Not. English shows just SOUND weird to me now. Like…it doesn’t feel like the words are coming from their mouths. I realize they’re really NOT, they’re coming from the speakers on the tv. But in the past it SEEMED like the words were coming from their mouths. Plus, just no.

AND…the Olympics! I’m all about figure skating right now. That’s really my favorite at the winter Olympics- men’s figure skating. I’m waiting to see Hanyu Uzuru (Japan) go up against Nathan Chen (USA), and Cha Jun-hwan (Korea) and Shoma Una (Japan). Olympics and BTS on TV are the times I allow myself the luxury of actual broadcast television. Anyone else watching? What’s your favorite winter event??

Does the country of Georgia do anything besides train Olympic athletes? I feel like the only time I ever hear anything about that country is at the Olympics.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

Til the End of Time by The Black Skirts.

Oh, this song. It’s got “your boyfriend (for whom your heart is filled with love but you haven’t told him yet) playing guitar and singing a song he wrote for you” vibes.

It’s from the soundtrack of a kdrama (Another Miss Oh) I watched some time ago and I saved it to my Spotify playlist but it just somehow never came up. And now I’m UB. SESSED.

ALRIGHT. If I don’t have anything more interesting going on this week, I’m gonna skip next week’s Week in Review.

You’re welcome.
