Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ February 9, 2022
Another top that’s been in hiding for a while. Well, not REALLY. It’s been in the laundry hamper for AGES, cuz it really needs to be hand-washed and it’s large and my sink is tiny and…it’s been in the hamper for ages.
BUT I took it with me to Katie’s JUST so I could wash it! She has a washer and dryer OH WHAT A LUXURY so it’s back in the rotation.
I’m wearing it over a J Crew button-down I bought last summer and have never worn cuz it’s been on the To Be Altered pile (that honestly could be called the Never To Be Altered pile cuz. Yeah). It’s a tad small and I wanted little slide slits put in to give some ease over my hips. But I’ve been wanting to wear this combination since the summer and now that I finally had the rust knit back in the closet again, well…
The shirt is a faint stylized floral print in lilac, pale citron green, and tiny little lines of rust. So even if I had not thought the pieces would play nicely together, the clothing designer was telling me it was okay.
I also really like this chestnutty rust color over the medium blue of the jeans.
What I DON’T like (come on, you had to know THAT was coming) is The Great Big V-Neck. If you look at men’s v-necks, it’s a nice little v-shaped opening. This is practically like a scoop neck with a point at the bottom. I don’t like how much of the shirt shows in the neckline.
But, you know, that’s just me.

V-Neck Knit: Target, 3x. 2020. Comparable here.

I love the color of that sweater! I am the worst about hand washing things as well. It doesn’t really take that long but it can be so annoying!

It’s really a great color, right? It goes nicely with so many other ones!
And yes, Hand Washing is Hell on Earth for me! I always make a big mess (small sink, sloshing water, etc.), then there’s the whole drying fiasco. Rolling up in a big CLEAN towel. I don’t have many towels. So dedicating a large clean one to “laundry” is…guh. Then, air-drying the thing after a night of “towel-drying,” there’s no GOOD spot for this. So yeah, it’s all very annoying. And then things always air dry a little stiff. And it would be lovely to throw them in a warm dryer for 5 minutes with a damp washcloth to soften them up, but since that’s not a thing here, I have to IRON things to soften them up and ARGH. The WASHING part of it is like the least of the annoyances.
I miss having easy access to cold water/delicate cycle washing….sigh.

I see what you mean about the V neck! Looking at my OOTD photos, it seems like when I have a deeper V neck sweater, I wear a scarf over it…both when wearing the sweater as a stand-alone or with a button up shirt. With the button up shirt, I like the look of a scarf tied like a men’s tie. I have a couple of thin V neck sweaters very similar to this one where the V ends right below the point where the second to the top button is buttoned, which is probably more what you’re looking for, but I do think that’s rare in a women’s sweater.

Agreed (harder to find that smaller v in a women’s sweater), which seems so weird to me. I look back at old pictures of me at work here and I was showing serious CLEAVAGE! Cuz that’s what sold and I never considered that there might be options.
How do you tie you scarf like a mens tie? That sounds interesting but like I would turn it into a big bunched-up blob.
