Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ June 29, 2022
Ahh, a swishy dress and sleekish hair, whatta time to be alive!
After almost a year without, I FINALLY splurged and replaced my old curling iron that threatened to burn the house down every time I plugged it in (so, yes, I stopped using it. as is evidenced by The Year of Fluffy Hair). It was all of $12, ha ha.
After much soul searching I have come up with a name for my look: “Anything I Can Wear With Sneakers.” Bam. “Dressing Like a Boy” goes out the window in the summer when I wear dresses whenever I can. I wish “Anything I Can Wear with Sneakers” had a clever acronym but AICWWS – Achewuss? Not so cute ha ha.
Hey look, all my paragraphs (til this one) started with the letter A. That’s better than “I.” I’m still working on such simple sentences in Korean, almost every sentence starts with I. I like the spider. I am going to the laundromat. I sang that song. I’m not yet at the point where I can have actual CONVERSATION beyond hello nice to meet you my name is bettye what is your name do you like the blue pen I also like the blue pen. I know lots of vocabulary (“lots” being a relative term – lots by “never knew any Korean” standards, not by actual native Korean speaker standards) but putting it all together in a sentence is still a sloooooow process. But I’m better now than I was even a few months ago, so…
Someday the baby steps will turn into an actual dialogue with another human.

The hair looks great. The dress, especially the color looks great. And congratulations on learning a new language. It’s not easy to do so you should feel proud of yourself. You got this!

Long time, no see, friend! How are you doing out there in the world??
Iām obsessed with this color green! I want a shirt and a purse and a sweater and sneakers all in that color š

Sneaker-centric style for the win! I hear you on the struggle to put together sentences, but hey, if you are building a decent vocabulary, that can take you a long way. It’s amazing the number of times I made myself understood in German from knowing the verb and a couple nouns despite totally botching the grammar. The fact that you’re learning a language SO DIFFERENT from English, with a different script, etc., is really impressive, actually.

I can’t imagine doing without a curling iron for a whole year. I’d be in trouble after a day. That being said, you look great either way. You’re really styling in the pretty green dress and the spiffed up hair. Love the whole outfit.

Ha ha, I didn’t think I could go without a curling iron either but then I was just like WTH, does anyone else REALLY care what MY hair looks like?? And so a year passed. And the only reason why NOW is cuz my hair is finally growing out from my unfortunate haircut debacle of last November…it really needs a significant shaping but I have no one I trust for other than a small trim…I hoped the curling iron would buy me some time.
