I’m calling it on summer. Yes, technically there are ten more days until the autumnal equinox, but…it sure feels like fall already. So I don’t think I’m really jumping the gun by taking a look back at my outfits of this summer and choosing my favorites.

My summer wardrobe (sw) felt a little limited to me…and I’m going to share with you why…and just how lazy I really am. About a month-maybe six weeks-ago, so right in the heat of mid-summer, I went to the laundromat with (among other things) four summer dresses and two pairs of linen pants. The dresses were washed in cold water and brought home wet to hang and air-dry so they wouldn’t shrink. The linen pants were washed in warm water and dried in the dryer in the hopes that they would shrink (the waistbands were so stretched out the pants kept slipping down). After drying, all six items needed ironing. Guess what? I haven’t ironed them yet!  So my sw was down six integral pieces.

So I was much more “jeans and top” this summer than I usually am. Which made me appreciate the few new things I bought so much more than I might have normally.

#1 The White Dress. If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile you know I have been searching for a white summer dress for so long. This summer, amazingly, I found two.

You saw this one here. This was a real “step out of the box” for me. A maxi dress and a waistband! Whoo! I’m getting crazy! But I really love this dress. I kept hoping for another opportunity to wear it this summer but one never presented itself. Maybe next summer.

#2 The OTHER White Dress. You saw this one here in the sunflowers and here on the 4th of July. This dress fulfilled all my white summer dress dreams. Sometimes white can be too nursey or too fancy, but this one just felt easy and casual, which is what I wanted. And I’m sure I’ll get a couple more wears out of it this fall under a denim jacket or maybe even a chunky turtleneck over it so it looks like a skirt.

#3 The Anthropologie top. I continue to drink the Anthropologie kool-aid. I love like 93.5% of everything they have. My only saving grace is that the pieces are quite pricey! BUT they have tons of sales and they offer After-Pay, where they break up the cost of an item into four bi-weekly payments, and more expensive items are more manageable this way. Even if I have the money to pay in full for an item I still use After-Pay because then I’m only charged 25% of the cost (with no interest) to try the item…and if I end up returning it (which is 98.9% of the time!) then I’m not tying up the full amount til I get the refund.

Anyway, I love this top. It feels special but not precious. I just got it in the beginning of September and I’ve already worn it twice. Once on it’s own to Coney Island (where it was 9million degrees) and once to work under my pale cream duster cardigan. It has more wears left in it this fall and will come out again in the spring.

Sadly, it is no longer available in plus or straight sizes, but I’m in love with all these Anthro tops! Some of them are currently 40% of the prices listed below.

For the first time in three years the Junarose dress did not make an appearance! It’s still around, and I wore it a bunch. It just didn’t make it onto the blog. And unless there’s an unforeseen disaster, I’m sure it will be back next year. I do still love it so.
There is a cool breeze coming in the window tonight. It’s definitely time for some fall clothing.
