Plus Size Workday Wardrobe ~ Jan 2-8
I’m wondering if I should change the name of this series as it’s no longer just “workday.” Now that I’m filming 60-second videos of my outfits every day for TikTok it’s just another few minutes to do photos as well.
If only I could put this much thought energy into something truly significant, like curing cancer or bringing about world peace.

Look in the living room! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It’s Bettye…in a COLOR!!!
I’m craving “just barely color” colors right now. I feel like every year right after the holidays I want to wear icy blues and mauvey pinks…and never find them. I have even more colors on my list this year…we shall see how that hunt goes.
I bought this sweater two years ago when it was marked down to like $7 but it was toooo smallll. So it’s gone from the “maybe someday” pile to the “sell” pile and back again several times. But now I’ve actually worn it and kinda liked it, so. It stays.

Honestly, I only got dressed to shoot outfits for the week’s “Style Session: Longline Cardigans.” But this was my favorite outfit from that collection (collection?? oh brother). It’s actually a little springy with the pale colors and open neck. I’ll wear it again then.

Sloppy day. Ha ha. After shooting three outfits yesterday I wasn’t having it with making any real effort today, plus, I wasn’t leaving the property anyway, so…who cares. I just tried wearing a cardigan that hasn’t gotten much use. I like it more over dresses than jeans, so…it was useful in the fall, not so much in the winter.
Cardigan: Old Navt. No longer available. Extremely similar here.
White Tee: H&M white rayon jersey knit, size 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, Scottsdale wash, size 20 short

The Big Post Office Run Outfit of the Day. I feel like it’s the first place I’ve gone other than deli and market in ages. Seemed to warrant making an effort. OH, PLUS – I found the black turtleneck! I will now wear it every day 🙂
Pulled this jacket out of the “to sell” pile. I love the collarless of it. I’ve been obsessed with no collar and band (tab?) collar looks since I was a child and saw my first Nehru jacket in the 70s. Remember those? I’ve always seen that look as chic and modern.
I have that black wool Old Navy coat, the cinnamon-colored liner jacket, and this denim one in that collarless style. I think they look so clean over a turtleneck. And I love a turtleneck.
Turtleneck: Jessica London cashmere cotton blend black turtleneck, size 22/24. Comparable here and here.
Jacket: Who What Wear denim jacket, size 3x. No longer available. Comparable here.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, black wash, size 20 short
Sneakers: Black Converse Shoreline Slip-Ons

Oh wow, Bettye, Friday!!! Love the coat and that you went to all those people! I haven’t done anything like that for a year now. Been shielding at home mostly. Longing to get to the dentist (fancy that), along with the opticians (more glasses), chiropodist, hairdresser (not been for 18 months) and the beautician for lots of treatments (oh those are so needed!) Roll on that vaccine as that’s when I’ll be like a cannon-ball shot out of a cannon – woo hoo and all that!
But really love that coat x

Thanks, Penny – and Happy New Year 🙂

I saw on your Pinterest how you love a camel coat over minimalist/neutral (me too!), and I think you nailed it. Your all black w/jean jacket look has inspired me to pull out my black turtleneck and give it a go.

I think in winter Black Turtleneck might be my #1 Clothing Item. I’m so happy I found this! I might need a second one next year just so I’m not putting so much pressure on the one.
Ha ha, yeah, my Pinterest “style inspo: winter” board is like The Exact Same Look over and over AND OVER again. I recently sent it to my Nordstrom Trunk Club stylist in hopes of getting them to “GET” where I’m trying to go and they were probably like “uhm, it’s the same three things over and over again.” Ha ha. PS – it did NOT help them “get me.” Sigh.

I had to laugh when you said color…I even looked back at the photo. It goes to show our definitions of color are a tad different, LOL!!!!
It feels good to get out and about once in a while I think. I’ve been craving it lately.
XOXO

Ha ha. Yes, I tend to go for very low-value colors and color combinations. It’s all part of my DON’T NOTICE ME thing, haha.

Love that collarless jacket you have! Looked so chic with the black turtleneck. Definitely need one that like in my wardrobe!

Thanks, Madison!

Wish I had seen the connection to the coat sooner. That forest green color is fabulous and I think it would have looked great on you, too. We have similar coloring.
I do think that one size larger would have been even better for you.

Connection to the coat?
I’ve been obsessing over rich forest green this year but haven’t found what I want – but def got my eye on that beautiful color.
As to the fit of the coat, I actually bought the larger size first but the shoulders were off. To me, shoulder fit is a very important detail for having clothes not look schlubby/frumpy. It’s how you can wear “oversized” without things just looking “too big.” This was a much trimmer fit.

Wow, am I seriously behind? You changed your blog format. Must be something in the air. Looks good.
