Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ Oct 17-22
SUNDAY
The inspiration for this outfit was…the mustard hoodie was laying on the floor next to the clothing rack…and the green tee was thrown over the clothing rack…so they were together in my field of vision and I went HEY! YOU GOT CHOCOLATE IN MY PEANUT BUTTER! And poof, a color combination was born.
You know me, I’d be exponentially happier with the outfit if it was a green and white striped shirt vs solid green. Solid blocks of color next to one another is so not my jam right now. I’m DOING it…and I don’t HATE it…but stripes would be BETTER.
Things can always be better. Life motto. Things can always be worse…things can always be better.

MONDAY
I have no think today. Struggling with words. And thoughts. But here’s what I’m wearing, ha.
I do love the mustardy color with the lilac. The dress style with the slouchy cardigan skews “grandma chic,” which, while that was not the goal (the goal was just getting to work with clothing on), I was not mad at it.
We’re in the “cool enough for cardigans but still warm enough for bare legs” season. That’s really my favorite season, both times of the year that we get it (winter into spring and summer into fall) but THIS one is my super DUPER favorite.
Ha ha. Does anyone say SUPER DUPER anymore??
It was a toss-up between the white Converse and the white Keds but…the Converse are a millionzillion times easier to put on, so.
My day started with waking up from a bad dream about work (they made the two of us in the front office the “security department.” Hell and failure – and quite possibly murder – ensued) and then struggling with daylight savings time math, trying to figure out (after 61 years shouldn’t I just KNOW this by now??) if it will be EASIER to wake/get up in two weeks when we set the clocks back…or harder?
Oh please I BEG of you don’t let it be the harder one – it’s been hard ENOUGH lately to get up.
I have to go to Internet Hell (hell seems to be the theme of the day) after work because yesterday, after passing on The Fun Plans to stay home and get more done off my never-ending list of Things to Do, my router died. DIED. Dead. It took me an hour just to give up the ghost that it was a wifi issue and fixable and admit that the router was just dead and would need to be replaced. Is Internet Hell open on Sunday?? It is not. So the rest of the day was spent INTERNETLESS. Which is just another form of Internet Hell. So that was like 89.75% of stuff on my list, undoable. Frustrating. It was a dumb day. And the emotions that go along with Dumb Days has carried over into today.
So. Yeah.

TUESDAY
Still going with my “colorful” theme this week.
Wine (maroon, etc) is a funny color for me. I am not really drawn to it…but I usually like wearing it when I do end up with something. It’s like that person you don’t think you like especially, but you always end up having fun with them.
This is a gifted top from Rossriss a couple years ago. I do like it with this goldy/msutardy yellow plaid top…there’s also a faint low-saturation pinky tone in the plaid which ties in nicely with the wine, but I would like the combo even without that.
Jeans. Sneakers. I first had the white Converse on but they were too WHITE white with the slightly-more-cream white in the plaid shirt.

WEDNESDAY
Back to a more typical outfit for me. Trying to squeeze a couple more wears of the beloved mustard linen trousers in before it’s too cold for linen pants. The button-down can keep going cuz I’ll layer it over and under other things.
I was gonna do one more layer today but I was already gonna be $7.50 late* so I tried to keep dressing as time-efficient as possible.
*Since I’m having a harder and harder time getting up out of bed on work days lately (hopefully it’s just daylight adjustment fatigue or some dopey thing like that), I’ve calculated out what I earn per minute at work, so if I’m laying in bed an extra 5 minutes I’m like, “well, do that if you WANT, but it’s going to cost you $X,” in the hopes of making me get up. Cuz when I calculate say 5 mins late/day (I’m not, but it probably averages out too not that far from that), times two weeks (which is how long our pay period is), I’m disgusted at myself for wasting that much money, just to Lie In Bed. It’s not a gazillion dollars, but it would be like a tankful of gas or dinner at the diner or something. That’s just STOOPID.

THURSDAY
Ooh. I can tell I’ve put on some weight cuz this shirt is bust gaping and it doesn’t usually do that. I mean, I already KNEW that…since August I’ve just been eating with wild abandon and barely moving (and it’s been heaven) but now I’m getting uncomfortable.
Weight first goes to my stomach, boobs, and under my neck. And I feel and see it in all three places now and the first two are affecting the fit of my clothing, so I think another Sugar/Carb re-set is in order.
Monday. I need to stock up and mentally prepare.
Anyway. The striped Madewell button-down is always (usually) nice to wear as it is soft and pliable (woven cotton rayon blend). I don’t think I’ve worn it under the brown cardigan before, so…welcome. Jeans. The big excitement is White Sneakers with Jeans. I don’t usually do that.
Woohoo.

FRIDAY
Pure comfort and ease today. Yesterday was…let’s just say mentally draining…I even canceled my Korean tutor session last night cuz I Just. Could. Not.
So today I just wanted comfort and ease. These black jeans are my favorite jeans. This is my favorite flannel shirt. The mustard polka dot tee just adds a little pattern mixing to the…uhm…mix. The black Converse are my favorites. And after five days of breaking in a new bra, I let myself go back to the old comfy one.
AHHH.
PLUS it’s Friday. PLUS it’s payday and there’s a little extra from a Saturday event I worked a few weeks back. PLUS I rewarded myself for surviving Yet. Another. Week with a morning bagel and coffee.
Looking back at the pictures from the week, while it was not intentional, it was a very mustardy week! I guess I had mustard on the brain from the Fall Color: Mustard post earlier this week.
Button-down: BP/Nordstrom, 4x. 2018
V-neck Tee: Old Navy, 3x. 2020
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline Slip-ons 2021
I’m easing back into a regular posting schedule. My goal is to get back to three posts a week for right now. I’m feeling no less overwhelmed by trying to do All the Things but I’m not prepared to let any of them go at this time. Piano. HA HA HA HA HA HA what was I thinking.
Okay, hope everyone is managing their lives better than I.

Oh I do like you in that mustard colour of which you seem to have chosen quite a few times this week! I really love the dress but also really like the green tee with the mustard hoodie, nice. It’s good you had a mustardy week!
I cannot imagine being without the internet – nooooo!
bettyewp
Yeah, I’ve managed to end up with a lot of mustard in my wardrobe. I’m not complaining, it was just sort of unintentional.
Oh. Yeah. No internet is like No Car. I feel so CUT OFF FROM THE WORLD. Are there other things I can do? Absolutely. Read, clean, walk, nap, call people. But I’m too distracted by being CUT OFF FROM THE WORLD that I can’t do any of those things!

You’re definitely getting better with your life mottos… “Things can always be better “ beats “I might die today” LOL
bettyewp
Ha, that’s so funny. Just yesterday Stacey forwarded me an old Facebook post from Earth Arts, the one where I’m holding up my “I Might Die Today” plate 🙂 Hey, that sentiment will never not be true. There aren’t many (any)?) things I can say that for. Maybe THAT’S my headstone: “I Might Die Today. Oh. Wait. Never Mind.” ha ha ha ha yep.
How you doing? We need to have a get-together soon!

Lots of mustardy goodness this week, very seasonally appropriate. I think Thursday and Friday are my favorites, but the mustard + lilac was an unexpected but fun combination. (Am I crazy that I liked the little detail in how the varied brown buttons on the cardigan coordinated with the dress?)

I LOVE the lilac sweater. Looks super cozy.
