MONDAY

Oh, No! Matthew the Korean Tutor got a new job in S Korea and is going back there in January! Damn! He was so patient about going over and over and over and over and over things with me…and understanding about how long it takes my brain to retain something. I liked that he was a native English speaker…so he was very competent in both languages…and he was easy for me to understand (unlike my class teacher, who now speaks entirely in Korean and I’m just lost most of the time).  Ugh ugh ugh.

On a brighter note, I felt relatively “normal” today. First time since coming back from my trip. I guess that’s good? But I hate the feeling of the BTS experience slipping away…

TUESDAY

You know what I’ve come to realize?? Studying Korean is the PERFECT avoidance technique. OH I CAN’T WASH THE DISHES VACCUM WRITE BLOG POSTS TAKE EBAY PICTURES ETC…CUZ I HAVE TO STUDY. It’s something I NEED to do (well, in MY mind…and life plan), so I feel I’m being productive…it’s not like I’m just laying around eating bon-bons while the filth overtakes me. I’m Learning a New Language. That’s pretty commendable and respectable. The dishes can (and do) wait.

Question: When a cricket walks across the floor in front of me while I’m watching tv at night…*I’M* not expected to catch and eat it, right?? That was always Janey’s job. I guess I just ignore it and hope it disappears from view and doesn’t jump at me at night?? Is that what everyone else does??

I saw something today that made me smile. While driving home from work I was stopped at a red light…and in the yard across the street two little fluffy dogs (a brown one and a white one) were running through the leaves playing “catch me! no, YOU catch ME!” and they looked so joyful. It was a nice moment.

WEDNESDAY

Just to be 100% transparent, I AM drunk blogging. So. Yeah. Yesterday was A Day. Today was ANOTHER DAY. So please forgive any…anything 🙂 Ha.

What’s for dinner? Roast beef and swiss cheese roll-ups with a teensy bit of salad sprinkled in the middle. Cold cut roll-ups are probably half my dinners recently. I’m trying to eat DINNER and not just chips while watching tv. They’re pretty good. Filling. Relatively satisfying. I mean, they’re not like a sandwich on BREAD. Cuz BREAD. Bread is certainly one of life’s greatest gifts. But bread and ramen and chips have made all my jeans uncomfortably tight, so. I’d like to be less uncomfortable by the time I go to Florida, so…watching my bread ramen chips carbs sugar intake.

Did I tell you I’m going to Florida to spend Christmas with Katie? This is the first time she’s not coming home to NY. So…no tree for me 🙁 Which is a little sad…but not sad enough that I’ll get one to enjoy while I’m here before and after Christmas. And no, I do not want a small tree in a big tree’s place.

Smile of The Day: Again while driving home (it may be just the DRIVING HOME that’s nice), I was stopped at a light watching a guy wrap colorful christmas lights around and around and around and around and around the trunk of a big tree. It was a cute. He had a long way to go.

THURSDAY

Another DAY, Another Drink. Oofah.

Got a much-appreciated “thank you, it’s beautiful” email from the boss after completing a project.

AND…

I translated and understood this entire tweet! Well, except for the last two words (consecutive weeks), cuz… But…all by myself! So proud! Possibly too excited! But! Yay, me!

“Article #Bangtan Sonyeondan (that’s BTS) Coldplay ‘My Universe’ Billboard Hot 100 10 consecutive weeks.” Granted, it was mostly Konglish (English words spelled phonetically in Korean), but still 🙂

FRIDAY

Hey! I won $4 in the lottery! Pennies for everyone!

AND…

I found two leftover airplane twizzlers in my purse!

What a time to be alive!

SATURDAY

Someone posted on Instagram: “share your 6 most recently-used emojis.” Mine were:

Life looks kinda good from an emoji pov.

I’m putting together a calendar/schedule for the next 2+ weeks cuz all of a sudden I’m doing ALL THE THINGS. A city trip cuz NY at Christmas, local Christmassy things, weekend in NJ/Philly, then to FL for Christmas. I gotta get my **** in order! Laundromat! Car wash! Rescheduling tutoring! Christmas shopping! Oh mon dieu!

너무해! (nuh-moo-hay) It’s too much! Let the stress begin! I want to do all the things…but it also causes stress. But I’m going to try and just enjoy the next few weeks…and after the first of the year, really hunker down and start being frugal and socking money away.

I AM looking for a cheap flight back to LA in probably the first half of 2022. This last trip was so rushed and busy with Thanksgiving, the concert, moving from house to house…it would be nice to be able to stay a full two days with each person and have some more relaxed time together. So I’m just watching for The Cheapest Flight, doesn’t really matter when it is. So far the lowest I’ve seen is $156 roundtrip (end of Feb). I feel there’s a $134 out there, just waiting for me. I would really like to find a site/app where I can say “this is where I want to go and this is what I want to spend, you tell ME when that flight is.” Rather than me having to look on Every Single Possible Combination of Departure & Return dates to hit just the right one.

Anyone have any insight into something like that?

SUNDAY

Met a friend in the cute neighboring village…we went into some small galleries, took some pictures, and had a nice late lunch/early dinner on an outdoor patio.

Long Island’s covid rates are going back up, ugh, so I’m avoiding indoors when possible. Tomorrow, the mask mandate goes back into effect for all indoor public places/businesses. Ugh. I DO it, but I hate wearing that thing. So I mostly choose to just not GO into public places when possible.

Alrighty. 3,172.5 weeks down…how many to go?? Only the nose knows.
