SATURDAY

True Confessions. This is what I wore yesterday…but I didn’t photograph it cuz when I got home that night I was in the grips of kidney stone hell and just wanted ALL THINGS OFF MY BODY so I could get in bed and try and zen my way through til the &$&$#! painkillers started to work (they were particularly slow that night).

So.

SUNDAY

Didn’t really do anything today outside (deli breakfast) so I took this shirt for a test run. I bought it months ago at a thrift store but it has gone from pile to pile…go to laundromat, iron, put away, shoved in the closet cuz there were no more hangers…then was missing…but today it had it’s debut and it was a delight 🙂

Thin drapey brushed rayon (for lack of a better term)…with POCKETS! Pockets! What a find!

Once again I’m wishing for non-blue (or black or white) jeans but…I’m trying to work with what I’ve got for a bit and not spend money on clothes (she said, still coveting a new coat and sneakers and shoes) for the time being. I’m trying to get the BTS Concert Credit Card paid off (oofah) so I can start saving money again.

Oh. Yeah. I booked my trip to CA today. Ha ha. Fares were just going up up up so I figured it was better to just pull the trigger now before they got any higher! So, end of Feb/beginning of March I’ll be out west again.

MONDAY

I love this taupey, greyed-down palette. This is sort of what I’ve mentioned several times, about wishing I had more different-colored pants – khaki, stone, taupe, mustard, green, etc.

I know we all feel like “blue denim goes with everything,” and not that it DOESN’T, but often there would be a better option.

Imagine this shirt and cardigan with blue denim. It would be fine. And I’ve probably done that. But I think this is so much BETTER.

But I’m having a HECK of a time finding pants/jeans in other colors that FIT me. Even Gloria Vanderbilt, the “color” colors are just sized differently. My regular size is so small I can’t even get them on. So I tried the next size up and I could get them ON, but the legs were ridiculously right. I’ve yet to try TWO sizes up, it’s very hard to find the colors I like in the large sizes.

I’ve tried Old Navy, Levis, Big Bud Press, and Caslon/Nordstrom, but nope. TINY waists, super long lengths, too-wide legs. I would LOVE a pair of drapey, pleated, wide-legged trousers in a nice fabric, but…I’ve tried and returned and tried and returned.

So I am especially grateful for this outfit. Wish I had NON-self-cropped pants in this color.

Taupe Loafers: Me Too/DSW, 2019. Comparable here and here.

TUESDAY

ANNNNNND today I am the ice cream man. I just need a little white cap and a bell.

Re yesterday’s post – this sweater would be SO much better over some mushroomy-taupe jeans (like the color of yesterday’s cardigan). I certainly could have worn it over blue denim but meh. Or my black jeans…but I always have so many things I want to wear with the black jeans that make outfits than THIS would, that I didn’t want to waste a black jeans wearing.

Part of it is I never really bonded with this color. I’ve had the sweater since last winter and it was brighter than I’d thought and I just…I needed some more just like…easy-to-wear crewnecks, so…I let it stay. But the color challenges me every time. I’d even like it over a pair of olivey or pine green pants. It would be less contrasty than the white (or even the black), rendering the TURQUOISE not so “in your face.”

WEDNESDAY

The One Where I Feel Naked Cuz I Have No Second Layer Under My Button-down

For real. You know how when you wear a dress or skirt and you get out in the world and you realize it’s Just Too Short and you feel all exposed…that’s literally how I felt in just a single layer of shirt. Ha. I’d wanted to wear the black LS sleeve underneath, the Luxe one like the white one I wear All the Time….but where is it? Who knows! Do YOU know?? Where do these things GO?!

Anyway, I ended up keeping the coppery brown liner jacket on all day cuz I was actually a little cool with just one layer on. It’s okay cuz it’s super lightweight and bendy (I HATE an unbendy jacket).

So. Yeah. Next!

Button-down: BP/Nordstrom, 4x. 2018
Copper Liner Jacket: Madewell, 3x. 2020

THURSDAY

The One Where I Dribbled Soy Sauce Down the Front of My Shirt at Lunch so I Changed to Take the Outfit of the Day Picture.

Ha. I started the day with the mustard gold and white striped tee under this red plaid button-down. Then lunch slash only got a second for lunch speed sushi-eating happened and…oops. And when I thought of what shirt to change into when I got home for the picture I was like D’OH! I should have worn my green tee (green tea, hee hee) under the red shirt cuz today was our Christmas day at work. Santa, car parade, dj, etc. And my accident allowed me to change honestly 🙂

So this is the tiniest nod to a Christmas outfit. I don’t know WHAT I’m going to wear for ACTUAL Christmas…Katie keeps updating the itinerary – yes, there’s an itinerary (wonder whose daughter SHE is??), I’m not sure if we’re eating out on Christmas Eve and THAT’S our “Christmas dinner,” or if we’re going out on Christmas DAY…and THAT’S our Christmas dinner. She and I usually go to a Chinese restaurant for Christmas dinner cuz Chinese is the only kind of restaurant that’s open. We’ve been doing that ever since Russell and I split up.

If it was cooler I could tie this red shirt over my green and white polka-dot dress and bam I’d have pattern mixing AND holiday appropriateness all in one. But. It’s FLORIDA. Is it EVER “cooler”??

Button-down: Sanctuary, 3x. 2019
Green Tee: Old Navy, 3x, 2021

FRIDAY

Oops. Traveling day. I did a TikTok in the morning before I left but had already packed my camera. So…it’s this outfit that I wore back on September 13.

Striped Tee: Old Navy, 3x. 2021
Chambray Button-down: Dia & Co, 3x. 2021
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons, 2020

And yes, due to technical errors, this is LAST week’s outfits of the day post. Finishing up 2021 with a (sad little) bang.

See you (sorry) next year.
