Month in Review: July 2018
I will not say “Oh my gosh, it’s AUGUST ALREADY?!?” I will not. Let’s just get right into it.

My Favorite Blogger Outfits
I think what caught my eye here first was the color of her top (which is actually a swimsuit!). I know the website says it’s mustard, but on my monitor it reads slightly green-tinged, like a muted chartreuse (one of my favorite colors! remember this jacket I tried on at Loft??). Either way, it’s lovely. And with the natural button down skirt…and dark brown belt…YUM! I’ve followed Erin from CaliVintage on and off for years, since we were both vintage clothing sellers on ebay (her successful, me not so much, ha!) but she had such a great style even back then, that I’ve continued to admire even today. Def take a look at her blog, she has such an easy way about her – both in her clothing and her home decor.
I’ve got wrap dresses on the brain this month! Jessica of Jeans & a Teacup is someone I’ve only recently started following, but this outfit grabbed my attention right away. I always love this kelly green color when I see it on other people but it’s a color I can’t recall ever having in my own wardrobe. I love this gingko leaf print…and her bamboo-handled purse…with the camel tan polka dotted scarf tied to the handle! I’ve been seeing that trend around a bit and just recently tried it myself. For me it’s functional as I mop my sweaty self up with an absorbent cotton bandana!
Unfortunately, I did not get photo permission from the last blogger – I wasn’t able to email her directly, I could only message her through the contact form on her page, so…maybe she didn’t get the notification. But I still wanted you to see the outfit -> Hello Fashion Blog. It’s that color again – it gets me every time! I want to call this turmeric, like the spice. But it’s so warm and vibrant at the same time! And I love the whole outfit – the juxtaposition of the “fancy-ish” fortuny pleated skirt with the casualness of the super faded denim jacket. And those gorgeous slides! And hat! And sunnies! Yup. Loving it all.

Just some things I saw around the web this month that I wanted to share, cuz.
Sisters on the Fly I’ve been thinking about a lot about non-traditional housing and these trailers are so darling.

Favorite Movie
I love a quiet movie. It’s lovely – the relationship of the father and daughter – but also hard. I don’t want to give the plot away. But if you like stories about the intricacies of emotions and relationships, you might like this.
Favorite Book
An American Marriage by Tayari Jones is a STORY! The language and dialogue was written so beautifully. The basic premise is that just one year into marriage, a young husband is sentenced to 12 years of prison for a crime he did not commit. The story follows the couple and their families and the challenges faced by the man when he gets out. Don’t want to say anymore about that, but I highly recommend it.
Favorite Product
I keep wanting to do a favorite product review…but I got nuthin!
And that was July! It seems like so long ago I was at that lavender field! We’re halfway through summer…hope y’all are enjoying it.

Just remember “Sisters on the Fly” came (at least some of them) to my area recently, so go for it and maybe I’ll see you here one day 🙂

Great photos, Bettye. The lavender fields dress will live on for posterity, as it should. I am going to the Apple store in the mall next week, to take a class on how to take photos from your Iphone. They also have classes on how to compose a shot, and the use of color. I need them all, as currently, I am the worst photographer on this planet; once returned from a week in Key West and only ONE photo was a keeper. It was a good photo though.
Just spent half an hour going through the doggie pics, and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Oh, those doggoes <3 Some of them, such soulful faces.
And…I'm usually happy if I have ONE wonderful picture from something. I read somewhere that professional photographers generally expect 5% success with their shots. If they take 100 and have 5 really good ones – SUCCESS! But the class should be fun – I love taking classes.

I always love to see the other blog that my friends are reading. It’s funny because you think you know them all, and then “bam” there’s a bunch of others.
I’ll have to remember this book for my book club!! We are always looking for great books!!

Did you finish “Before We Were Yours” yet? I think I asked that somewhere before…
Oh gosh, there are SO many blogs! Every week I add 2-3 to my list to read…and they’re always dropping on or off my list. I hate when you LOVE a blog and it just…disappears 🙁

You certainly can turn a phrase. I also cannot believe it is already August. This summer is going by so quickly. I really love your olive green outfit. And that photo of you in the lavender fields is superb.
I will check out the link about the dogs. I also miss my fur baby. Have a wonderful weekend.

Just love the turmeric skirt and totally agree with you on the color. Great idea to do it in a bottom since for me, the color would be nightmarish next to the face. Also, thanks for the movie rec – will check it out. Gorgeous Junarose dress in the lavender. I can see why you love it.
