The End’s Not Near…
It’s here.
While I’m the first to rail against the end of summer, even I must admit that the season is definitely winding down. It’s still miserably hot and humid, but NY is like a ghost town with so many people away, grabbing their last chance for a summer vacation. Some trees are already dropping their heat-browned leaves. Next week I’ll have to leave my house earlier in the morning to again compete for road space with school buses, teachers, and parents dropping kids off. The end’s not near…it’s here. So many endings recently. I’m melancholy.
Some friends and I took a drive out east last week to Springs, which is a lesser known part of East Hampton township. We enjoyed the quiet seaside roads, deer grazing at woods’ edge, an old bridge crossing a pond, the gentle dusk sky and late dinner at a busy diner.
We got home late and I was exhausted. I was grateful for a good night’s sleep that night.
What I wore:
- B Bobeau collection plus size kimono via Gwynnie Bee. Also in straight size.
- White rayon jersey tee from H&M< size 4x. So silky smooth! Similar in straight size.
- Plus size high rise skinny jeans, size 22 short, from Charlotte Russe.
- Old, old Mephisto footbed slides. Comparable.
- Vintage Jacqueline Ferrar straw crochet tote bag via eBay. Comparable available right now, here. Or search “Vintage Crochet Straw Bag Tote” on ebay, etsy, poshmark, etc.
I’m linking up today with:
- Shelbee and her Link-up on the Edge
- Nancy and her Fancy Friday Link-up
- Rachael and her Weekend Wear Link-Up
- Tina and her Friday Link-up
Thanks to Linda and The Friend Who Shall Remain Nameless for the outfit photos. The rest of the photography is mine.

Love all the photos. Love the kimono. You look really good. School started here a couple of weeks ago. I’m ready for fall, but it’s probably a ways away here.

Yeah, I feel like we have still another month of hard heat and humidity here. But the “summeriness” is ending. Vacation will be over, we have two events in September to prepare for. Well, ONE good thing in September – MY BIRTHDAY, ha ha.

You really know how to capture the day with photos Bettye….have you thought about teaching others (preferably me??)??
The kids are already back to school here, and it can be murder to get out of our development at certain times. I totally know what you mean…
XOXO

I’ve been trying to do a “summer photography for bloggers” post all summer! I have the outline…well, outlined…but I’ve been unable to find a willing participant. For this, *I* need to take the pictures…which means I need someone who is willing to BE in the pictures! I may have to resort to ModelMayhem, but was hoping to shoot someone I know as it’s just less awkward. Anyway. It’s coming. Eventually.

Wow, your photos are gorgeous! And that kimono suits you so well in both color and style. A shame to say farewell to summer, but autumn has its own delights!

Thanks, Chris. I need a little “farewell” time before I can feel joy about something new (life). But I’ll enjoy autumn’s delights eventually 🙂

Love, love, love your outfit. You look so pretty. 💕
We’ve had some beastly hot and humid days here along Lake Michigan. This morning it was 48!

Thank you, Debbie 🙂 Yeah, I’m not in a rush for summer to end, but a cool morning would feel pretty nice right now!
