Ahh. Back in last year’s favorite sweater 🙂 It’s extremely comfortable in that it’s both cozy and light at the same time – a miracle of modern science.

Sadly, it’s badly pilled and “fuzzed,” and even my clothing shaver isn’t helping it much. I actually just tried to get some of the really bad “inside of arm” spots with scissors…but my work scissors don’t hold a candle to my personal scissors at home.

I have The Best Scissors Ever at home and I doubt they were expensive. They were my mother’s. She died in 1990…and she had them for some time before that (I don’t remember when they came into our lives, but). The cheap plastic handle has even cracked and the piece is missing, but I don’t care. They’re still the sharpest scissors I’ve ever had AND they never seem to dull…how is that even possible?? So they’re from the 80s and were made in Korea.

Shocker. Bettye likes something from Korea.

I’ve had “expensive” scissors. When I went to floral design school (oh, I’ve done it all), we had to buy things for our “kit” and the Ribbon Scissors are lovely and super sharp…but they dull pretty quickly and I’m terrible at sharpening: scissors, knives…whatever else needs sharpening. I use them for hair trimming cuz they live in the bathroom (I tend to only cut ribbon at Christmas these days) but I always kinda wish I had The Mommy Scissors in there with me.

One time when I first started working where I’m working, I was at an event and we were blowing up balloons and tying them with ribbon. I (being the neurotic that I am) brought The Mommy Scissors, knowing what work scissors are like. I had to leave a little early and someone else had picked up my scissors and was using them…so I had to ask for them back and the person looked at me like…WT…?? So I said they were my mother’s scissors…she goes, “were?” I said, yes, she’s dead. That person said “SO SHE WON’T KNOW YOU LEFT THEM HERE.”

On So Many Levels – UGH. I can’t.

PEOPLE.

ANYWAY. The outfit. I like the olive green of the sweater with the blue chambray collar…and the layering with the turtleneck. If only I had a brown check blazer to go over it ALL…

Last Year On This Date

Another item that’s been missing for a long time that I wore a TON for the past two winters, is the black cotton/cashmere turtleneck. BUT I just found it last weekend in my closet/ebay re-org so…at least it will get a little wear before it gets warm.
