It was a relatively light shopping month. I think I was just so busy I didn’t even have time to think about shopping. But I did manage to get a few things.

Kept:

PLANT GROW LIGHTS

In an effort to keep some of my patio plants alive. I don’t have the plant area set up yet, they’re still living in the bathroom and kitchen (aka the rooms with tile floors). I like these with the clip-on feature so I don’t have to mount them onto furniture and they’re easily moveable.

JUMP ROPE

The first time I really made an effort to lose weight was in my early 20s when I had just met my husband-to-be in a college class. He hadn’t asked me out yet but I was pretty certain he was interested and the waiting was killing me. AND I was 22 and still in the “he won’t like me if I’m fat” phase of my life. I weighed 175, which was my all-time high (at that point in my life). I think that’s when I discovered the miracle of the Atkins Diet…and also fell in love, I mean REALLY fell in love, with exercise. I was going to the gym and using the machines, running (like actually running) and jumping rope when it was too cold to run. I would shut my bedroom door, put on my ripped grey sweatshirt, put the Flashdance album on the record player and jump my heart out! It seemed much easier to me than running…and you didn’t have to go anywhere to do it.

So I thought I would try it again. Just to feel more fit. And HA HA HA HA HA I’m such a spazz. I’m lucky if I can get four consecutive “skips” in before I catch the rope with my foot. But I’m not giving up. My goal for right now is just to TRY for five minutes every other day. Do four, falter, do three, trip, do five, laugh…for five straight minutes. Hopefully, I’ll get better as I continue to do it.

Oh, ps, I lost 60lbs in six months with my low carb/exercise regime back then. And I did get the guy. Ha ha. I don’t think the two are necessarily related. I think he already liked me.

I do like this jump rope. It’s all fancy with ball bearings and swivel handle. But you still have to do the work yourself (dammit),

UNIVERSAL STANDARD NAVY KENNEDY BLOUSE, size XL (26-28)

This was an exciting find! I’ve loved this Universal Standard cupro blouse in dark navy (and black!) since earlier this year when I rented them both from Nuuly.com. But it’s like $128 new and I just…couldn’t. But I found it brand new, still with the tags on it, on Poshmark in just my size for $54! I snatched that puppy right up!

More to the story…I was eagerly awaiting its arrival…when I got a message from Poshmark that it had been delivered. Uhm…no? No it hadn’t? I double-checked with the landlords (my mail goes to their door then they bring it to me) and they hadn’t seen it. I reached out to the seller saying it had NOT been received even though the mail said it HAD been delivered. No response. I messaged her again in two more days when there was still no sign of the package. I was like oh crap, ONE of us is gonna be out $54 here…and I sure hope it’s not me, but…what are you gonna do? Two days after THAT, so almost a full week after the mail SAID it had been delivered, guess what showed up? Yay! I bet it was left at a neighbor’s house by mistake and they just took their sweet time in putting in our mailbox. However it found its way to me, I’m glad it did. This was another fall shopping list item – black or dark navy buttondown. And this cupro fabric is magical. Feels like a heavy washed-silk but is not as fragile. Yay!

BP/NORDSTROM EASY RIBBED SWEATER, size 3x

I’m a sucker for a cream or white top. And “lightweight knits” is on my fall shopping list. So when I got this in my Trunk Club box (link to post) this month I just couldn’t send it back and have already worn it several times. It’s so wonderfully light, swingy, and drapey. I can’t.

You might have already seen this in my October Nordstrom Trunk Club Haul post…or here. I’m still loving it. I’m struggling to NOT wear it all the time and give some other knits a chance!

WOMEN’S CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR SHORELINE SLIP-ON SHOES

I needed a pair of black casual shoes for wearing with cropped and/or skinny jeans. I like the look of the regular ones better (with the six eyes), but these sit lower on my foot, which is more flattering to my ankles and they’re a slip-on style and tying sneakers are the bane of my existence. I was concerned they would not be comfortable or good for walking – the other court-style sneakers I’ve had (Superga, Vans, faux Converse) have been so flat and unyeilding. But these are lovely! They feel nice on my foot- snug without being tight…and the inner cushioning is very nice for walking.

Undecided

AEROSOLES WOMEN’S SPENCER CASUAL ANKLE BOOT WOMEN’S SHOES

Cuz black ankle boots for winter so my ankles aren’t always exposed. I’ve had them about a week. I put them on, walk around the apartment on the carpeting, look at them in the mirror. And sigh. They’re just not quite right. But I’m feeling a little desperate for some sort of boot that will cover my ankles AND be comfortable for walking. So I’m undecided and will continue wearing them around the apartment til I can make a decision. I wish they came up a little higher on the leg, they cut me at an unfortunate spot on the front of my shin. I really consider my entire ankle/shin/calf area an unfortunate spot, so this is always a challenge for me.

That’s it for my quiet October. Did you buy anything good last month?
