This might end up being a more casual week as the school is closed so the only people in the building are administrative staff, there won’t be visitors, etc. OR…maybe it will be an opportunity to experiment, We’ll see.

SATURDAY

I REALLY didn’t feel like making an effort today as far as clothing. It’s muggy, I knew I wasn’t going anywhere (except the deli).

So this is my JUMP ROPE TODAY DAMMIT outfit of the day. Cuz I haven’t been jumping consistently since I came back from Florida and have been so busy with the class, and not at ALL in the past week.

I was getting frustrated cuz I Just Could Not Break 50. And I know quitting is not the answer. JUST KEEP GOING. When things are hard JUST. KEEP. GOING.

I just needed a little mental break from the disappointment and frustration. But I start again TODAY.

So I put on jumping clothes and jumped. And it was horrible. As horrible as I expected.

But I’ll keep going.

I follow a young woman on TikTok who is jumping 1000 jumps a day for 100 days. She’s an inspiration.

SUNDAY

Headed out into The World today, hoorah! Ha. Going out east to a nice garden sanctuary with my friend. It’s not super hot but it is HUMID. Ugh.

So a sleeveless, loose-fitting rayon top…with a lightweight cotton-blend button-down open over it in case we go indoors to air conditioning at some point. Jeans. Sneakers.

In the end, the garden had a lovely breeze everywhere so I was comfortable with the striped shirt on UNTIL I tried to run down one small hill and up another.

Dummy.

MONDAY

No critical analysis needed on this outfit. I just felt like wearing it. It’s Very Hot, but the office is freezingly air-conditioned so I need something on my arms…that I can take off when I go outside at lunch or end of day.

I love the faded chambray color with the mustardy-gold of the tee.

I’m on the hunt for a replacement for this shirt, sadface. I love it so much. It’s the perfect color and fabric/feel, but after five years it’s looking a little dingey in spots, especially on the pockets. I’ve tried pre-soaks but it hasn’t really helped.

TUESDAY

The overriding theme of the week is HOT. Hot with a side of air conditioning.

A new red-and-white-striped tee under an old cotton apricotty-yellow striped button-down shirt. Do red and yellow play well together? I dunno. They’re only separated by orange on the color wheel. I like it.

I guess some others do, too.

I really wanted to wear the red stripe tee with the sagey green linen pants that aren’t yet shortened (ha ha) and the light blue crewneck cardigan I’ve worn a bunch lately. But, the pants are not wearable as-is and then I didn’t like the big neckline on the cardigan over the v-neck of the tee.

I had the white linen buttondown in my hand for a second, instead of the yellowy-stripe. THAT would have been safe. Yawn.

WEDNESDAY

Ugh. Ha. THAT seems to be the theme of the week. Plus, it rhymes with bug. WHICH was a little better last night (oh, I’m getting my blog posts mixed up, oh well, you’ll read about THE ^*%^&$%! BUGS in Monday’s Week in Review. I know you’re waiting with bated breath).

Oh. Right. My outfit. Ha.

I got this top from Torrid MONTHS ago and this is the first time I’ve worn it cuz “Waiting For It All to Be Perfect.” I have different pants in mind to wear it with, certainly different shoes, different “overpiece,” maybe a better haircut, ha ha. The point is I was WAITING.

But I may not GET “just the right pants” or shoes and cardigan or haircut or whatever…and it’s HOT and I just don’t have many HOT HOT SUMMERTIME work clothes, so…on it went, for better or worse.

I def would have liked something light to go over it…I’m not EXACTLY sure what, but SOMETHING. Just One Thing feels so incomplete to me these days. And it’s been So Long since I’ve worn anything this low cut! Like, the little “v” in front, when I sit, gives a bit of cleavage view and…guh. Not my favorite at work.

And that’s funny cuz In The Olden Days almost ALL my tops were like that, cuz I hadn’t yet gotten The Big Neckhole Memo. Like so many other things in life, I thought That’s Just How It Was.

Other than that, it was fine. I think it’s super cute, it’s loose and billowy and lightweight rayon, all things I love.

I would LOVE it over low saturation, “on the blue side of army” green linen slacks or like a loose-fit cargo pant…with maybe a turquoise sandal (ooh, who even AM I right now?!?). But I will probably never find those things in my size so…it’s going over jeans and converse. Like everything else.

Note: The air conditioner went in the window right after this so YAY.

THURSDAY

I do love me a blue and green combo. The white jeans keeps the overall look cool and light…

That’s about it, ha ha.

Green Tee: Loft, 3x. 2019
Blue Cardigan: Old Navy, 2x. 2019. Comparable.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021

FRIDAY

Just a regular Friday. Not as hot but supposed to be rainy. Dug this shirt out of the “seasonal” bin and didn’t realize til at office that it still has a 2020 stain on it. Will Shout and handwash it when I get home. Same drill as yesterday with the green top I dribbled sushi on at sushi lunch.

I used to have a slightly more mustard-toned gold cardigan that would have been perfect with this top, but I think this one does the job. Ha ha I actually think the cardigan has a stain on the chest somewhere, too, that I can’t always find.

I’m a mess.

But at least I’m a mess on Friday.

Sleeveless Buttondown: Bobeau, 3x. 2017.
Yellow Cardigan: Old Navy, 2x. 2017, Comparable here and here.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
