My Week in Review: Week 23

Whirl. Wind. This week has been a whirlwind. Not bad, just BIZZY. I have a houseguest. And her dog. And was finishing up some projects at work. And starting on new ones. And some other things. And thinking about OTHER other things. So my brain has been on overdrive. I need a

The Perfect Date Dress

Want to go out with me? Cuz I have the perfect date dress! What makes a good date dress? Anything that makes you feel flirty and pretty! It should be easy to wear and comfortable. No one wants to be worried about parts slipping out or having to suck your tummy in.

My Week in Review: Week 22

I write with the scent of a marble pound cake baking in the oven. I haven’t baked in a LONNNG time, but I’m seeing an old friend today and this is a peace offering. So I’ve been up since dawn. I’m looking forward to tomorrow when I have (so far!) No. Plans.

Plus Size Bag Lady

I am actually NOT a “bag” lady. I’m in awe of women who change their bags out daily to coordinate with their outfits, switching necessities back and forth. To be perfectly honest, I’m way too lazy for that! But I’d like to be a little more “accessory-coordinated,” and have some *fun* bags.

Weightlessness

My favorite place to be is in the water. I especially love the ocean. I love the coolness of the water, the anonymity of it – even when there are thousands of people at beach, you’re just a faceless head bobbing in the waves. What I most love is the weightlessness of

My Week in Review: Week 21 (I think)

I’m glad THAT week is over! Another week of So Much Busy I Barely Had Time to Take Pictures. Work is busy right now as we’re preparing for an upcoming fund raiser in November. I’m working on the invitation and the website for that and it’s a lot of back and forth

Multitasking Dress

I love a dress that I can take anywhere – from work, to a date (HA HA HA HA), to a fun weekend outing. This dress checks all three boxes. Plus, this print? You spill on it? No One Will Ever Know. It’s a beautiful thing. The dress is from the new

My Week(s) in Review: Weeks 19 & 20

The weeks are passing so quickly…I’ve been so busy I feel like I haven’t had much time for fun things…and a sad event stopped me from posting last week. I lost my puffy kitty, Madison. I really got him for my daughter for her 11th birthday, but she moved out and away

The Definition of Insanity

Einstein said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I keep falling in love with a dress because of the PRINT, and overlooking the STYLE. I know there are styles that look good on me…and styles that don’t. And you’d think that

Fresh Florals

In the 80s (as a 20-something) I wore A Lot of Florals…it was the era of Laura Ashley and overscale floral dresses with hairbows and pastel flats…this eventually turned into 90s grunge and ditsy (read: tiny) floral prints over boots and sneakers with tattered denim…and then I was a MOM and everything

My Week in Review: Week 18

The summer was sort of getting away from me and I realized I wasn’t getting out in the evenings as much as I would like, so I’ve been making myself turn off the computer and get outside more after work. Last Sunday Caleb and I went to the local college athletic field…I sat

Sometimes

Sometimes an outfit post is just an outfit post. Sometimes the hills are alive. Sometimes I’m ready for my close-up. Sometimes the wind can be a jerk. Sometimes I look like an escaped mental patient* from the 1950s. My Friend Who Shall Remain Nameless and I went down to the beach to

The Invisible Dress

How great is this dog?!? This is Zeus. Or Rambo. I never know which is which. They definitely have differences, but when they’re just milling around you (with 2-3 other dogs), bumping you over or sticking their head under your dress, it’s hard to have the presence of mind to recognize their

My Week in Review: Week 17

It’s hard to know how to behave when a week like this happens. I’m so disheartened to see my country being so divisive. From election events to now…these many deaths this week. There are so many issues at play, I am hardly an expert on the reasons behind any of these things.

Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

NOPE. Ha. But I went to the beach this week for the first time this year. That’s really late for me. Usually I start beaching by Memorial Day! But this spring was a little on the cool side, and I’ve been so busy with other things, I hardly noticed it had gotten

Declaring Independence

Fat people shouldn’t wear white. Okay. Happy Independence Day! Congratulations to our nation for declaring its independence 200something years ago. And I’m declaring my independence from (stupid) rules like “fat people shouldn’t wear white.” I suppose it’s because light colors make things seem more prominent…larger. Well, newsflash, the darkest black in all

My Week in Review: Week 16

Four months of Fashion Schlub, woohoo! In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m big on anniversaries, commemorating special dates, etc. Last weekend I was just plumb tuckered out. It was a beautiful weekend – everyone was out at the beach, barbecues or by the pool. I was happy to be inside in the

Ask Me How I Am

Go on. Ask me. “Okay, how are you?” “I’m OUTSTANDING.” In the field. Ba dum-bump. Sorry. I hadda. Corny Daddy jokes run deep in my veins. Anyway, just a simple outfit post here. But can I just say that a year ago I would NEVER have worn a sleeveless top out in

This One or That One

Or the other one. Yes, once again I’m going to ask your opinion. It’s not like I can’t make up my own mind…or like I’m going to count up the votes and let the majority decide…but I do like reading the comments and sometimes someone has a thought I didn’t have and
